Too many soft players

I label myself a Cowboy fan. I have no player allegiances. I want whatever is best for our team.

I'm going to say this and I know from experience. Some players are loved so much, they can NOT, and I mean, they can NOT see flaws with the player. It's not until you step back or look at it from the outside to where you can make an actual opinion about a player.

Example, Commander fans thought that the guy they picked up from Chicago was a great QB. They really believed it. But us, since we're not emotionally involved with the guy or the team, we could see that he suck. His name escapes me.

You guys should try looking at things from the outside sometimes, it's not very pretty.

I've sent a lot of criticism Romo's way. Here's one particular post I made a few months back.

Continuing on.. this offense doesn't seem to have a rhythm. Too many passing plays come off broken plays. I feel like I'm watching back yard football with this offense sometimes. I don't know the exact problem. I don't know if our WR get outmatched. I don't know if they're just not studying hard enough or they don't have what it takes up stairs or what. I don't know if Romo just isn't a timing based passer.. I don't know, I don't have the answers, but watching this offense it's clear that it doesn't perform up to the level it should. We have "weapons" but we rarely feel like a team who is fully utilizing those weapons. I'm sure it's a combination of things but whatever it is it needs to get fixed.

I'd say it's a combination of his below average height and weak line. He doesn't have the vision to take a short drop and fire in a quick slant or drag w/ total confidence. He needs an extra second to get a clear window.

You might have a point there, but Bress is Romo's height. I don't know, I just want things to change, and I mean drastic changes. Things can't continue how it's been or else it's going to be the same sad story next year. But it could be worse, Commanders could find or give up their draft to move up and get a franchise QB, and if this happens, it will be misery for a decade.

We don't have enough players who taking losing personally. One thing about NY is they have dogs and mentally tough players were thrive under adversity. Our guys wilt under it.

We are soft and not very smart. Not sure we value drive and wanting to win enough in our player evaluation.

We haven't been able to put together a good array of pressure players on D in years.

Oh and to the one poster...we are way softer than the eagles.


Btw, I am a romo fan but a lot of you guys have to give in to the fact that Eli has just proven himself better, at least for now.

I think what happens is when we draft new players they get mingled in with the rest of our weak minded quiet team and they emulate them to an extent. So in other words, the weak minded behavior is contagious.

I find it interesting that when Romo can't win the game, he's great, it's just the other players who aren't getting it done. But when Eli wins, it's never how great he played. It's his defense or the other team that should get the credit.

No quarterback completes all his passes. All quarterbacks have bad passes.

Yet despite that Eli makes the plays he needs to.

The differences in this game were the special teams and Eli Manning. Alex Smith simply could not do anything to get the Niners into Giants territory. Meanwhile, Eli did.

I guess you missed several plays that should have been picks by the player you are slobbering over.

Just like in the SB when on the last drive he put one right in the hands of Samuels- and he drops it.

BS. As has been pointed out by several posters, Eli is incredibly lucky. He has had picks dropped in all of his big games.

You are coming around Tupperware. You realize that Romo has some issues with his game (beyond the offensive line) and that is half the battle. Most here don't see any mistakes in his game and think he is on an elite level. I can't help but like the guy but something is off with him for sure. It seems like his timing is off or something. It comes and goes though. I can't put a finger on it exactly but something is not right. He breaks down at the worst possible times in important games too.

Too lazy to look through the thread, but OP is right on.

Watching yesterdays games was very discouraging. I saw 4 mentally and physically tough teams. And we don't look ANYTHING like them. They were prepared, competitive, smart, tough--and if someone went down, someone came in and filled the spot adequately.

We need a lot of help on this team. We need pass rushers on the DL and pass blockers on the OL. We need fast linebackers that can compete with todays athletic TEs, secondary that can cover and tackle. And we need toughness. Intelligence. Athleticism. Our D is old and tired and our O is fast but weak and unprepared.

This team needs ALOT of work in the offseason
