Too Tall Announcing First Pick

Back then, (before free agency) Dallas Cowboys were truly Dallas Cowboys. Not just leaves blowing in the wind waiting for the next high bidder to come along.
Too Tall was definitely one of the all time favorites.

He needs to take DLaw to the side, and get him straightened out.

:banghead:HOW does Jerry live with himself knowing Too Tall at the very least, isn't in the ROH? He needs to be waterboarded until he comes to his senses. He dominated the NFL for 14-15 years. No one should be in the ROH if he is omitted.

Ed Too Tall Jones. A LEGEND AND A HERO. The man was a feared beast when he played. He was good all the way until he retired. Never missed a game. Rayfield Wright was also feared. NOBODY wanted to face him. He was one helluva offensive tackle. He was very much like Eric Williams .

He did miss an entire season once though

if your not on the team , it don't count. He never missed a game WHILE ON THE TEAM, due to injury or otherwise. That was unheard of then.

I wish I had the pic still, but I have a pic from 1980 with my 6'3" father holding me as a baby next to Ed Too Tall Jones. One of the pics I cherished that was lost decades ago.

oh man!!! that's cool...but sorry you lost it. I would love to have something like that.

could you imagine what Ed and Randy White could have done in jimmy johnsons time? wow... Our defense would have carried those teams even moreso.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I'm curious why you think they would have been more productive during Jimmy's time? Or maybe you are you just saying they would have been great additions to Jimmy's teams …

just saying they would have been nice pieces in Jimmy's teams. We had a nice rotation back in the 90's...it would have been awfully interesting if Ed was part of that, even for just 1 SB run.

It's interesting to look at the perspective of fans. I may be wrong, but my guess is you are probably younger than me such that the 90's Cowboys are the teams that cultivated your love of the Cowboys, and that you see more as the glory years of the team, whereas for me it was the 70's Cowboys.

6-0 with 5 KOs.

Really embarrassed himself.
did you ever see him fight? I did. can you name one of the chumps thrown his way? I can't. the story had a happy ending. but Muhammad ali, he wasn't.

I was just about to post the same thing. It’s true that his opponents were mainly journeymen boxers, but to say that he embarrassed himself is just flat out wrong.
he did not dance like a butterfly. he did not sting like a bee. he was almost knocked out in one of his fights and his cornermen were illegally putting smelling salts under his nose to wake him up. let's just say his muscle memory wasn't geared to fisticuffs. I am glad he returned to the cowboys.

nope. What cultivated my love of the Cowboys was the 70's version of the team with Roger then Danny White.

I saw Too Tall fight...and yes, it was bad..real bad. I was worried for him.He took some vicious shots to the head. I was 9 at the time, but I recall. I actually got teared up watching my hero almost get decapitated on live TV.

And Staubach only made $25,000 and had to get a part-time job to "support" his family. Insadently, his part-time job was a real estate agent. Now he's a real estate mogul. He certainly didn't make his millions in the NFL. Roger That

Players today are spoiled and have no inclination just how fortunate they really are making the NFL.
that's why nfl owners fought free agency as hard as they did. they saw what happened in mlb. once the flood gates were opened, the flood rushed in. tex schramm was known for his "take it or leave it" contracts.
