OK, well, the extremely biased opinions of the various “beef boards, fish factions, and chicken coalitions” have had their free reign for the last 50 years, so I think it’s finally time to hear what the actual doctors, nutritionists, University studies and medical tests have to say on the matter of bacon’s nutritional benefits to our health. Here is a list of the Top 10 Reasons why bacon is actually healthy for you!

Luv me some bacon but let's not try to BS ourselves...

I don't think we are..

Scientific studies are showing saturated fat is not really bad for you.

Everything now days is pointing towards sugar as being the main culprit for most health problems.

You think about it, even if you don't believe the current science in regards to saturated fat, 1 slice of bacon is only 80 calories with about 7 grams of fat.. That isn't really bad.

I'd be more worried about how they preserve the meat than the fat.

Most bacon I see is 80-90 calories for 2 slices.

This doesn't really help me. What are the numbers for say....... a half pound with Eggs and Potatos?

Dunno about eggs and potatoes. but maybe 450 for the half pound of bacon.

And I don't know if those calories include all the fat/grease that comes out when you cook it. It might be even less when you factor that in.

What about if you strain the grease off the bacon before you actually sit down to eat the Half Pound. What am I looking at then? LOL......

My Favorite part of the article and absolutely true

Bacon makes you feel happy, satisfied, blissful, which greatly reduces stress in our lives and effectively relieves the negative effects of frustration, self-deprivation and sense of lack in one’s existence.

Bacon is a gateway drug!

Eggs and Bacon with some black coffee just makes me feel good in the morning.

If I have fruit, oatmeal, or anything carby for breakfast I either get hungrier or just want to go back to sleep.

You guys ever bake bacon? I don't know why it's so new to me, but I think it's the greatest thing since, well...sliced bacon. I got turned on to it during a summer vacation with a large group of people staying in one house. One of my buddies wives threw a couple of pounds on a baking sheet and baked it for about 20 minutes. It came out just as good as fried without all the mess and popping grease. Maybe I'm just the last to know about this.

I bake now in a convection oven (I usually only do 4 or 5 slices a time). I still prefer fried though, but it is a mess and a hassle.

All of the time. Two great ways to prepare it:

1. dredge in flour then bake
2. dredge in syrup then bake

You are welcome :)

Jim Gaffigan said it best when he articulated:

"putting bacon in a salad is cheating, it's like smoking when you jog"
