Statistically speaking anyways. We're a top 5 offense and defense.

We rank 2nd in the nfl in points scored per game. With .5 points behind the Colts. We're ranked 6th in overall yards per game.

We're tied for 7th in the NFL for points allowed per game. And we're ranked 5th in the NFL in yards allowed. So much for Zimmer being a no talent *** clown.

This makes me really happy knowing that the team is only get better as both sides of the ball gel. We have 5 new starters on the offense, and 3 new starters on the defense. And it's a really young defense, in our 2nd year in the 3-4. I think as time goes on we'll get more aggressive. I think we don't want to give up the big play with Watkins out there at free safety. I think the gameplan right now is play conservatively on defense, stop the run, score some points on the offense, and force the other team to pass, and make mistakes challenging this secondary.

I'm not a Zimmer hater by any means, but in fairness, we haven't really faced any real good offenses. Jacksonville is OK, Washington w/o Portis is average at best, and Tennessee might be the worst team in the league.

How we do against Philly and NYG in the coming weeks will tell us where the defense is at.

we've played Jacksonville, Washington w/o Portis and a terrible Titan offense with a rookie making his first start at QB...please tell me you understand that has an impact

Everyone on top is like that. You play a mix of good teams and bad teams.

Jacksonville's offense had little problem with Pittsburgh.

They scored 9 points. They had a little trouble I'd say.

Please tell me you understand that Zimmer has had 5 top 10 defenses in his time as the Cowboys DC, including the #1 defense in 2003. His only "subpar" defensive unit was the 2004 group that was riddled with injuries across the board.

Cowboys probably still would've won but you're foolish if you don't think Portis would chnage things. He's not LT, but that doesn't mean he isn't good.

And to answer your question..

Portis had 40 carries for 164 yards and 5 catches for 29 yards against us in 2 games last year.

Clinton Portis is a helluva running back! I doubt seriously they would have beaten Dallas with him but it would have made for better press lines in the newspapers leading up to the game.....

Hell if we had a healthy T.O. the game might have been different too... He was hurt from the beginning of the game...

Anyways the point is... its rare that both an offense and a defense are so highly rated. You can look at the Bears or the Ravens, but they never had the offense to back up their defenses. They have offense now, but its not nearly as good as ours. And I think our defense can be as good as theirs.

If you back up time to look at when these dominating defenses developed, you can see that our team is really going to be good.

thats all true but im sure if dallas was to be bad right now u would be quick to blame zimmer..and whoever is calling the offensive plays(one of the 3 stooges)..anybody but parcells

i've noticed that with cowboy fans these days..quick to issue blame on the coordinators, but give bill all the praise

We've played 3 games.

3 games is a very poor random sample.

it's a start

it's better than being ranked in the lower 5 of the league on both sides of the ball

The upcoming Philly game will give us a much better idea how much our OL have improved since game 1, and assuming they have a healthy Westbrook, we will see how legit our defense is. We have a talented D, but the coverage ability of our LB'ers scares me some, that and Ellis will be tested covering backs in this game for sure. Buckle up, should be interesting.
