The Chargers' Buddy Nix
* 15 years experience as a talent evaluator under John Butler & AJ Smith
* Key member of one of the most successful front offices in terms of talent evaluation & retention, Chargers are one of the deepest teams in terms of talent
* Aggressive & extremely familiar with both the D and the O that Dallas currently employs
* Jerry can hire him w/out giving up his GM title. (He has an Expiring Contract) Nix is currently the Asst GM & Dir of Player Personnel. Jerry can give him the VP title that was vacated when Ireland jumped ship.

P.S. Little known fact: Nix also recruited and coached Terrell Owens at Tenn-Chattanooga. The guy is a great talent evaluator. Both John Butler and AJ Smith relied on his insight and input.

Depends if he wants to leave and if the Chargers would let him go.

Yes... to the first, doesn't matter to the second.

If its an upgrade to his position, he can leave at anytime.

I would also like Pagano to come along if Nix were hired as well. Anyone know his contract terms and what title he officially holds?

He can't break out of his contract unless he gets full control over personnel or San Diego lets him go. It was the same issue with Ireland. If Ireland wasn't becoming the GM in Miami with full control, Dallas could have stopped him from leaving.

Face it, Jerry is in charge of our drafts again.

Jerry did say in another interview there is one guy outside of the organization he considering to replace Ireland. If Nix contract now expiring(?), Wade would be familiar with him so maybe he's the guy Jerry thinking about. Don't know Pagano's contract situation, but he's currently the OLB coach and Wade tried to get him from the Chargers last year.

The Chargers wouldn't have to let him go if the satam55 is correct about his contract expiring.

You ripped off SilverbulletsD's idea (I think he posts as BAT here)...

If his deal is really up there, that would be convenient.

And if we hired him, it would show that Wade has a lot more influence than some people think.

I would rather have Buddy Ebsen.

Even if his contract is up, they usually don't expire until after the draft.

Sounds like a better Ireland, and Ireland is very good! The Chargers have had excellent drafts for the last few years, taking some chances (Cromartie, etc.).

:)

You owe me 2 bits. That's one thing that never gets hit by inflation, one's opinion. :)

I appreciate you getting my back tho, C-Lab.
