Trade both our 5 picks to move back into the 4th

It appears this draft has incredible talent running deep into the 4th round. I looked at several mocks and there are many excellent players still available after we make our 4th round pick at #123.

I would like us to trade both of our 5th round picks, #164 & 179, to get back into the middle or latter 4th round. The draft chart valuation for our two 5th round picks is 43.2. The valuation for mid to late 4th round pick is 43 or less. So the math works.

What say you addicts?

I like it but it depends on what hasn’t been addressed yet at that point. Some positions will have great value in the 4th but not every position.

I would prefer to use one of the 5ths to trade up in the 3rd to nab a starting caliber SS.

The Cowboys did the opposite last year.

They traded their second 4th round pick for a 5th and 6th.

They said that after the Pollard pick, there was a long list of players with similar rankings on their draft board.

I mean fine. But there's little chance that a player available at 130 is going to have much more value than 160. Those players are all pretty much the same.

Name names.

For instance, is there really a difference between Khalid Kareeem (130) and Jabari Zuniga (174)? Quez Watkins (137) or Collin Johnson (182)? Colby Parkinson (140) or Dalton Keene (169)? Boards vary obviously, but prospect quality doesn't change much at that point in the draft. You could pretty easily swap any of those comps.

Ok, here are your "names". There are 111 players listed. And 73 of them will be drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. That leaves 38 of these players , and most of them will be drafted in the 4th round. The point is there is some serious talent in this draft in rounds 2-4. Now if you can show me a list of similar quality players available for the 5th round, I'll buy your argument.

What are you talking about? 4/5 of this list is entirely out of the question for the type of trade you're talking about. If you take the last 10 on this list, then no, they're not really any better than guys at 160. I already went through that exercise.

Hey Future...Did you see what the Cowboys did? They traded two 5th round picks to move back into the talent rich 4th round to grab a center!!! Just like I suggested they do. I'm glad they didn't follow your line of thinking.

Yea, and got a player who isnt a better prospect than the center who went at 160.

Your op is still bunk, and the trade was bad.

Sorry bud but your post is way off. He was considered the #1 center going into last season. Injuries derailed his draft status. Go back and look at what they were saying about him last fall.

That is actually wrong...………...Biadasz was considered 1st to 2nd round grade before his injury, which he is now recovered from.

Reports on social media that the Cowboys got word that a couple of teams were looking at him and that he would not last till their pick in the 5th, so they had to pull the trigger and make the trade.

And as far as the trade goes, the 5th they gave up is next years so its equal in point value to a 6th this year. The points work out if you do the math, they didnt over pay so the trade being bad is not based on mathematical numbers, just your own personal opinion.

Nah. I don't care if he's the #1 center and what was said about him in 2018 is largely irrelevant. He's not a much better prospect than Harris.

Brugler had him #170, and his #6 center. It's not like Biadasz was universally a top pick.

I should clarify, I said that wrong. I meant the trade if it were the 5ths this year, as OP proposed initially. The actual trade was fine.

sorry but it is completely relevant that if he would be a round 1/2 prospect before the injury.
taking an injured player is something the cowboys does quite a bit.
whether it is lee or jaylon.
it is a way to get superior players with lower cost in draft capital.
it is particularly relevant if the hip injury takes a year to recover from.
given this is a 5th round, and not like a 2nd round, the risk is very low as the chance of a 5th round succeeding is low.
kudos to the op here
