Trade Costa to Denver!

And what part of helping a contender don't you understand? How is losing our best backup OC, OL depth, exactly HELPING ourselves? Try again Brainiac. And not the "well, we MIGHT get a 6th or 7th round pick". Costa is a player that helps our team now. This year.

I would trade with the the best team in our division if I viewed it as a move that improves this team in the long run.

And you're talking about contenders in July....from another conference no less. Who cares?

Winners worry about themselves. Work to improve themselves. And they certainly don't worry about sending a Costa to a team in the AFC.

And for the record I never said what I would accept in a trade for Costa. I just said that if the team thought it was fair compensation I wouldn't be heartbroken over it because it would be a move coming from a more informed position than you and I are in.

And do we know for sure that out of Bern/Livings/Arkin/Leary/Killa/Cook that Costa is our best backup on the interior? I sure don't know that.

That's insanity.

We're coming off the worst rushing performance in the team's history and our "GM" is talking about our OL being in the top half of the league.

It still might be true. You do know that the Cowboys did not play all the other 31 teams in the league, right, just the ones on their schedule.

But, yeah, it was a stupid thing to say.

Wouldn't be worth the trade. We would have to give Denver a discount on Costa because he only has 3/4 of normal arms... although his value could be bumped because he's about to be part of Hulk Hogan's family, so that could be looked at as a wash.

Whatchya gonna do, when the shortest arms in the world run wild on you?

Brother.

He did say it halfway through the year last season. Although I doubt he'd change his tune if asked again.

I wonder if Costa actually has a long enough wingspan to successfully complete a Hogan shirt tear. He'd probably get it about 3/4s ripped before maxing out.

well costa will be a free agent next year and Kowalski still has two more years under exclusive contract I think. I do not believe that costa will be resigned so might as well get something for him. a fourth or fifth round pick would be great value for him.

Costa is signed this year and next.

Wow.

There isn't a GM in the league that would trade for Costa, Kowalski or Cook.

One traded for Cook last year, and Costa is a much better center than Cook.

I still have hopes for Costa, but you are probably looking at a 6th rounder at best for him. Denver does run an offense conducive to what Costa offers so it isn't a crazy thought.

Personally I would keep him, but wouldn't be ticked if we got something of value.

I was talking about other GMs. I don't believe a single GM outside of Dallas would trade even a 7th round pick for any of those players.

I doubt it. He should feel a little better about it now. Frederick is a huge upgrade, IMO. Tyron isn't a first year starting LT anymore. Maybe Leary can pan out and show something. I think the OL will be better this year but it's got a long ways to go before it can be considered a strength on this team and until it is you are doing a disservice to the franchise QB. We're wasting his career.

If, for some strange reason, Denver offered a 4th, I would probably jump on that too. However, that is not going to happen, it would be a 6th at best, prob a 7th.

Lets say Kowalski is battling injuries all season and not 100% and Fred goes down early for the year, what then?

I don't think Costa is that good either but he does have experience and got better last season some. He is good to have for depth and is too risky trading him away for a player that probably doesn't make the team next season.

We have this season to see if Fred is going to be a staple at center, if he is, then try to trade Costa going into his last season IMO. Fred may even be good at guard if other lineman get hurt, we will still have Costa to put in at C if need be and move Fred over.

There is finally some depth here, not great depth, but decent depth and no reason to weaken it even more. We will have off lineman get hurt at some point, it is inevitable.

I guess Bernadeau becomes your starting C.

I'm not even a fan of Costa but his worth to our crappy line is more valuable than what we would get in return for Costa. Highly unlikely we could get anything better than a 6th for Costa.
