Trade Down with Denver: Future Gains?

I was just thinking, what if there is no one that really is worth the 4th pick overall, do we accept a trade down with a team that MAY not be that good this year? With the 2015 top two QBs off the roster, could we trade with Denver and bet on 2017?

Dallas trades #4 (1800 points) overall to Denver for:

  1. #31 pick in the first round (600 points)
  2. #63 overall in the second round (276 points)
  3. #94 overall in the third round (124 points)
  4. #144 overall in the fifth round (33.5 points)
  5. 1st round pick in 2017, projected to be 16th overall at 1000 points
That's if they want Paxton Lynch, they get what they want, we get the trade at somewhat of a premium.

Yes I know we miss out on some talent, but Dallas under Jones seems to do better when talent gets pushed to them.

I just get the feeling we won't pick at #4 and will look to acquire picks to plug many holes and position for 2017 and perhaps find a future QB then...

I think the future 1st is not worth 1000. If it is projected to be the 16th pick in the 1st then the trade value is 16th pick in the 2nd due to it being a future pick. Personallly, I would be up for something like this. This team has so many holes. The only problem is they have shown no ability whatsoever to make 3rd, and 4th rd picks matter. Heck even 2nd rd picks seem to be wasted so I guess their best chance at helping the team is pick no 4 so it would be tough to trade it away.

Future picks are often rated at half value. Example a 2017 first round pick is valued as a second round pick. That makes it difficult for a team to trade up from the bottom of the draft to 4.

That's right, you should get way more than he had there.

You nearly doubled the value of that 2017 1st...and especially if it's a good team like Denver.
They don't have enough unless they throw in some players

I thought a future 1st round was half of the current value or #16 in 2016. Either way, I hope someone wants to trade up so we can move out and get more picks. Arizona could move up as well. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong..LOL

Reality is SD will either take Tunsil because they ranked 20th in pass protection to trade with someone else that take him. Our trade down scenarios are not good. It's unlikely but possible that someone might trade up for Ramsey or Bosa. Most likely we will have to stay put. That means get used to hearing the name Bosa especially when we will most likely loose to DE's to 4 game suspensions.

Yuck...but it makes sense...Can't you lie to me and let me be happy until Thursday? I hate DEs too high...Since Jimmy left we haven't done well with DEs for the most part.

Yeah I know its not sexy but it is fairly responsible. But a day or two after the draft you will go back watch more film on Bosa and feel hopeful about it.

Let's hope, but I read about his off the field stuff and it scares me to death. I would rather have lots of 2nd-4th rounders that will play along and get better...but that's just wishful thinking...So no sweet little lies from you huh? LOL

It would be better to trade back with TENN and get 15, 33, 76
Then draft Lynch and trade to DEN for 31, 94 and 2017 1st

DAL would end up with 31, 33, 76, 94 and 2017 DEN 1st to go with our 34, 67 and 101

won't happen...but man a few years of accumulating picks would set up this franchise for at least 10-15 years in my opinion.

None of those guys at the top are choir boys including Zeke. I could lie but you end up with the same sinking feeling on Thurs when they take Bosa. So might as well start getting used to the idea now :)

Yeah if Tunsil were to sneak past SD that would be our best bet to trade back.
