Trade for a RB

I think things will become much clearer after the Vikings game. The first team O-line will probably play the first half, so we'll see who we have then. Unfortunately, guys like Hill & Johnson will still play behind the twos & threes, so it will be harder to make an assessment on them. One of them will have to make a huge statement in order to stick, however.

Liked what I saw from Hill.

The Cowboys don't appear to have any desire to cut their top 3 RBs. Garrett and Jerry love Dunbar. McFadden stays unless he gets injured again before game 1.

Are any of those RBs good pass blockers.?

I really don't see why they love Dunbar so much. McFadden can do everything Dunbar can do and more. He hasn't been productive and I doubt that they will use him anymore this year compared to last year. It just amazes me that he is still on the rooster and hasn't scored a TD since being in the NFL. IMO they should cut him and find someone who can break tackles and gain extra yardage and still do just about everything Murray can last year.

I said it previously and i'll say it again. You may hate what they have at running back. But the Cowboys like what they have at running back. Because if they didn't they would've been addressed. They had plenty of chances in the draft to do it and plenty of chances in free agency. And it never happened. Maybe, just maybe they like their situation? Now should they? I have no idea but they've earned the right these past few seasons to trust their judgement on personnel.

Good point. However, the FO has been wrong before and I believe its a mistake not to look around to add more depth into a crucial part of our success last year. I'm not buying that McFadden can stay healthy all year. I also don't think Randle can handle the entire load if McFadden is injured. As for Dumbar - lets get serious here. He's nothing more than a wasted roster space that we can use for someone who is a workhorse.

The FO may like what they have. But they should really be worried. Which brings me to conclusion that they are being stubborn in not trying to replace Murray's production with a quality back that can remain healthy.

They say Speed kills..... But I am willing to bet, a big fat ugly Nosegaurd kills too..............

We had that speed last year in Randle. Just didnt see the need to use it that often, I guess?

Talking about the rb's who will be on the field for the majority of the game (as Murray did last year). This year it will be a mix of Randle and McFadden, with a dose of Dunbar. All fans did was complain Murray had no breakaway speed and couldn't make people miss. Our OL will be better this year (starters). Like I said, only thing we will miss from Murray is the power running (and getting the tough yards).

I just hope this RB situation works itself out for the regular season. Does not have to put up the numbers that Murray did but have a respectable running game even if by committee.
Frankly I dread seeing these same types of threads week after week.

I hated the idea of McFadden and before they brought him in i called even the idea of bringing him in a clown shoes move.

So Please Oline and RBs on the roster or RBs they decide to bring in...for the sake of our sanity, do not let these threads turn into a weekly (or worse daily) thing.:(

It was after some time at camp that the FO changed their speak about the RB position. It sounds like they obviously felt that they may have evaluated what they had a little off. Training camp is more than 2 preseason games. They watch these guys in live action day after day. I think most would agree that once camp started it was too late to make any real significant changes to the roster.

It seems much much more likely that they assumed Demarco would take 6.5m per year because of his desire to stay on the team. In fact it wasn't just the money per year it was the guarantee that caused him to leave. If they didn't want Demarco then they would not have offered him 6.5million to stay. You want to pretend they offered him a one year vet minimum contract. They offered him a healthy contract that he would have accepted if not for Chip Kelley getting stupid when he lost Frank Gore. So based on your logic Dallas would have given Demarco 6.5 million when they didn't even want him to play here? Come on man.

No its not a vet. minimum contract but the guy was the leading rusher in the league and arguably the best running back in the league last year. They offered him a contract of a 2nd tier running back. Demarco was never going to be a Cowboy this season. If they wanted him he'd be here.

THis organization had a shot at re-signing Demarco during the season and waited until he broke receords and had a career year to try and re-sign him. The Cowboys value their offensive line more than they did Demarco. You can argue that they don't like their running back sitaution. I'd disagree based on facts. But you can't argue that they wanted Demarco because if they did he'd be here.

I hear ya. And I saw it too, more then a few times. Murray not being able to break away to 50 yards of nothingness but air.

But if speed was valued more then what Murray was offering, I would think, they would of given the rock to Randle. ? But that rarely happened.

There is a reason for it. Whatever lack of speed that Murray displayed, was made up for in spades with other attributes and chemistry and leadership by example, that DM carries himself with.

DM is a lunch pail guy. And we took on that attitude and Identity last year. And it worked. 1800 yards is a pretty good year.

But we didnt even address his departure in any real way. Which makes me think, they really do beleive in Randle/DMC................................................................................................

really? Alrighty then;

Again, Murray was trying to break Emmitt's record, he wanted to play, and the coaches wanted him to play. He was their bellcow. Why would they give the rock to Rnadle or any of the backups when Murray was having a career year and abusing defenses week in and out?

Murray is gone, so no point on me going back and forth on this much more. Peace.

Yeah, I find myself saying the same things; But this argument has legs.....It may die down when the season starts, or during other periods when something else big happens..............But this argument isnt going anywhere, anytime soon...........:). The Dallas Cowboys win the NFCE and a playoff game for the first time in a long time, they have the leagues leading rusher, breaking E. smiths ss record, and they let him sign with the.......................Philadelphia Eagles. Thats a pretty big story. And the debate is fun for me at least....

Im sorry Paint; and others..............:)

Do you offer a guy, you dont want, a 6.5 million dollar contract?

Running Back: Marshawn Lynch, Robert Turbin, Christine Michael
Fullback: Derrick Coleman

Cut: Thomas Rawls, Rod Smith, Will Tukuafu, Bandon Cottom

Pete Carroll said this morning that Rawl and Smith aren’t pushing Michael. There is a chance that the team could keep a 4th RB, but for now I’ll keep it at three.
I also don’t think that either of the other fullbacks push Coleman off the roster as long as Coleman is healthy. Both Cottom and Tukuafu are capable though. Cottom likely lands on the practice squad.

Yeah he wanted to play. And the coaches wanted him to play....................becuase he is the better Running Back and Football Player......................:)

The position has been downgraded.

But I agree .... this argument is going round and round. Maybe Paint is right. time to give it a break;

When you know other teams have offered 8m+ it is a pretty safe bet he declines

I am sure the Cowboys had a chance to match; But, I wouldnt say they didnt "want" him. They wanted him, just at a cheaper price. The market crushed them, and they said.....well Randle is fast. And look DMC can be had for dirt cheap!

Were fine.

Where is this Randle is fast coming from???

He ran a 4.52 forty
Murray ran a 4.4

I did not know that. I was just judging from eye sight. Football Speed; Randle just looks like he can get going quicker and faster then DM. When running the football.....
