Trade Newman in the offseason

I have NO idea what it would cost us, Adam probably knows, but what about trading Newman? Maybe not this season, but in the offseason.

I know this thread will be hit with, "Are you nuts", "put down the pipe", etc, but IMO he's not worth the money. We could add Hamlin in the deal with his contract.

It's funny how you look at Denver with 8 new starters on defense and they are playing lights out!

We could add a corner in FA that could be servicable until Scandrick takes over. Jenkins looks like he found a spot for around 5 yrs or so.

Newman's best days are behind him.....sometimes you just have to face the music. Unfortanetly we as Cowboys fans get emotionaly tied to a player, a lot like our GM and Owner.

newman is still a solid player.

he's the least of my concerns.

You gotta a lot of guts to put "Adam" and "Trading Newman" in the same sentence :laugh2: .

I don't know about that, but I what I would do with Newman is make him our full time punt return man.

I am not saying this because Patrick fumbled one. He rarely does that. We are not so good that we cannot put our best players out on the field at all times.

Newman is still pretty solid. We should focus on fixing the free safety position.

it would cost us one of the top 10 corners in this league, who when he's playing at his best is a top 5 corner.

i know people get pissed at him, but i'm not sure what he did today that has people ticked off?

he didn't get that INT? there's maybe only 4-5 corners in the league who hang on to that ball.

i heard someone on the postgame show pissed at him b/c he wasn't in the game when KC tied the game....???? bowe landed on his neck and he's lucky he wasn't seriously injured

I realize he never has a perfect game, there isn't a single CB in the league that doesn't give up a single pass or always gets the pick.

all i know is i trust Newman out there a lot more than i would most corners in this league.

i think most people have a beef with him not being a ballhawk and having great INT numbers. i don't disagree that i'd like to see more picks, but he is still a solid corner.

I understand where your are coming from. I don't understand why people consider him a top 5. And of course they say, this is when he is on his game. He is a good cb, but thats it. And i am a fan of his, but i refuse to call him a top 5 corner only because he is the best we got.

This idea isnt that crazy if the cap hit (if there is one) isnt too bad, but it would be kinda pointless because we would need to aquire another quality cb to fill the spot.
