If you don't remember which one this was, it was the 9/11 plane that the passengers fought back.

This is the last 30 minutes of the flight. The jury watched a video simulation of what the plane was doing (going with blackbox data), heard the audio tape and read this transcript.

Heard someone on the radio today who was there and the "I don't want to die" comments are mostly the pilot because the hijackers are beating him to death. There is long silence as the hijackers turn off course and head for the White House, then the passenges fight back. On the video, the plane rocks side to side because the hijackers are trying to catch the passengers off balance so they can't get in the cockpit. The smashing noise on the door gets louder and louder (speculation is they were using a serving cart as a battering ram) and finally the plane goes upside down and then crashes into the ground.

Released in court today in the sentencing:

(AP) — The following is a transcript of the cockpit voice recorder aboard United Airlines Flight 93. All times are in EDT on Sept. 11, 2001. Text in parentheses was translated from Arabic. "Unintelligible" indicates that the tape couldn't be transcribed.

I guess it is better to try and fight and die anyway than not do anything. It is a pyrrhic victory but they were going to die in any event.

Where's the "let's rock" stuff though, was that before this tape, not on the tape or just myth?

I don't think it was "let's rock" (Was it "let's roll?") but I believe it was the last comment one of the men made after saying good-bye to his wife on his cell.

I don't view it as a pyrrhic victory. They knew they might bash the door open and overtake the hijackers before they could crash the plane. It's a fight for survival.

I wonder if the other planes knew what was going on. I find it hard to believe people would just stay still if they knew they were headed to death.

Tru, I assume the people on the first couple of planes probably figured it would end like most hijack situations, you land in some far away place, the hijackers get what they want and you get off the plane.

It isn't like hijackers fly planes into buildings every day so you never would have thought it would happen.

In the last flight, the passengers already knew what had happened so they had no illusions about it being landed safely. It was like those jumping from the 100th floor, in effect the passengers were choosing their own way to die. There was no way the passengers were going to overpower the hijackers who were armed.

We never know how we will respond or what we are capable of when facing death.

We have heard of plane crash victims resorting to cannibalism to survive, ... or how about the guy that cut off his hand that was trapped between two rocks in order to survive.

I would hope that I am never faced with a decision of life or death, but I know I would go down fighting at least.

I could not give up.
