He wants to improve his time and apparently hopes more practice will get him a better time at his pro-day.

Watching the film on him, he doesn't look that slow. He's not a speedster, but with his size, he doesn't need it. Dez is a 4.52, maybe a bit slower now. I don't think the speed is all that different between the two.

At this point, if we stay at 4 and Treadwell stays a top 5-10 pick, I honestly feel he's the safest pick at a position of need. I kinda got caught up in his lack of speed as well, but man, he looks like a WR that would fit our offense perfectly. There are some really good wide receivers in this draft, we could always look into a speedster in later rounds.

Having said that, I wouldn't hate us passing on him either.

If they stop hand timing these kids during their pro days, this wouldn't be an issue.

I don't know how wide receiver could be considered a position of need.

Big fan of Treadwell in the first. Looks like we could even trade down and get him. Also, big fan of doing the same for Zeke.

Offense is our real problem here

I don't know how you could think wide receiver isn't a position of need.

Dez Bryant coming off an injury plagued year, Williams on his last year of his contract and didn't produce when Bryant went down, Street is one unimpressive camp away from being cut and Beasley is nothing more than a slot guy.

So yes, I'm gonna go ahead and say wide receiver is a need, unless there is some receiver I'm forgetting about. Maybe we address this in FA, but if we don't, we better look for a WR in this draft. This is a passing league, you need more than just one good receiver.

Agreed, I think it's one of our biggest needs actually. And it just so happens to be a decent draft for WR. In my opinion, we need to get a good wide out in the first three rounds.

Its funny to me how people talk about needing to go D heavy despite the fact that our D kept us in most games last year. Must have took a very short bathroom break everytime our offense was in the field and missed it

Dez Bryant had an injury, it's not career threatening. He'll be back next year ready to go, so that;s our sure fire #1 wideout. Williams is an adequate #2 guy when he has a QB to get him the ball. Harping on him considering the deficiencies of the QB play and the play calling, are short sighted. Even Bryant did do squat whewn he came back. Williams is on the last year of his deal, so if he plays well, they'll re-sign him. Beasley has proven to be a great slot threat. Whitehead hasn't even had a chance to acclimated to the league yet. I see three starters already, with a fourth guy who is still up in the air.

Yes, you need more than one receiver, which we obviously have, in this league, but you absolutely don't need multiple high picks.

Denver, Carolina, Seattle, New England, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Baltimore say hello.

Lol you realize Carolina just drafted Benjamin and Funchess the past two drafts?
Denver drafted Latimer/Thomas in the top 2 rounds
Seahawks just used 2 of their top picks the past 2 drafts on Lockett/Richardson
Steelers have drafted a WR in the top 3-4 rounds despite having Antonio Brown (Bryant, Wheaton, Sanders)
Saints just used a 1st on Brandin Cooks despite not "needing" a WR
Colts 1st pick last year Phillip Dorsett, 2nd pick year before Moncrief, 2012 TY hilton

So only New England (who used a 2nd on Dobson and have the best receiving weapon in the NFL in Gronk)..

Funchess was drafted in the second round, number 41. Benjamin didn't even play this year so he had no bearing.
Lockett was picked in the 3rd round, number 69, AFTER their last Superbowl. Richardson was second round pick, number 45. Also AFTER their last Superbowl. Do you remember who their highly drafted receivers were the last time they won the Super Bowl?
Bryant was selected in the 4th round, pick 118, Wheaton 3rd/79th, both AFTER the Steelers last Superbowl. Who was their highly drafted WR for their last Superbowl?
The Saints won the Superbowl with with Colston as their number one wideout, a seventh round selection. They haven't done squat since adding Cooks.
The Colts are the only team on this list who won a Superbowl as a result of drafting a WR high in the draft, Reggie Wayne.

So, New England only has one great receiving threat? Suits my argument just fine.

Clearly, having a bunch of highly drafted WR's is not a necessity to winning a Superbowl. It never has been and still isn't. In fact, going back almost two decades, very few teams (Green Bay, NYG) have made drafting WR's high a priority.

I am not saying don't address the position. Every position should be adequately addressed anytime you think you can add talent. If WR is BPA at any of our picks, you certainly consider it and/or take him. WR is absolutely not a need, though. It's a knee-jerk reaction to a season that's a total wash.
