Thought this was interesting considering how much of a Romo "fanboy " Dilfer is and how he's regarded as a 'great analyst' on CZ. This might get him tossed straight to the bushes though.

“You might be talking to the biggest Tony Romofan in the world,” Dilfer said on “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” “If there was a Tony Romo fan club, I would be in it. I think he’s fantastic. I don’t know if he’ll ever see the field again for the Dallas Cowboys.”

See the full article below as he goes into discussing Dak as the future.

I won't say that Romo will never see the field again. But I do think Romo will never start a full season again for the Cowboys.

And if the Cowboys inconceivably go 8-0 or 7-1, I think the Cowboys will tell Romo to take his time and health completely. I don't think they will reassert him into the lineup and impact the chemistry Dak has established with the team.

If he doesn't play again because we are winning without him, fine. But if we are struggling, they need to put him back in to see if he can help us right the ship. If Romo is healthy, he deserves to play unless Dak is so otherworldly that we just can't justify a change.

Well, he is telling the truth about him being a Romo fan. Dilfer has always had a level headed perspective regarding Tony.

But, unless he has inside information on a trade or a retirement, he's dead wrong about Romo never seeing the field again as a Cowboy.
pretty much anyone who wants to bet on that can name their price.

It may be difficult for some loyal fans to hear it, but Dak being so good that we never look back would the the best thing for this franchise.

He uses the term MAY. Which pretty much amounts to the way some fans talk about us winning the SB. We MAY win it or we have A shot.

I will say this..................This is the LAST season Tony Romo MAY be the starter in Dallas.

I think if he gets healthy tony will play again and play well I am just not sure how long he will be able to stay on the field but if dak does really well if tony gets hurt after that then he may not play for the cowboys

I don't agree that he will not see the field but he won't play full seasons again. Dak may play well enough to win but the team doesn't and that will bring Romo back in to fix what can't be fixed yet.

I think Dilfer is forgetting who runs this club and it's not the HC.

Some of us have been saying that ever since Romo went down based on his repeated injuries and the performance of Dak in preseason. I believe it's Dak's job to lose, if he plays anything like we've seen in preseason during the regular season Romo will remain on the sidelines regardless if he's healthy and ready to play. I don't see Romo ever getting his job back if Dak has a solid 2016 season especially if he leads the Cowboys to the playoffs. Romo can't withstand a good hit anymore, it's hard going forward with an aging, injury prone QB who can't be counted on to stay on the field when you have a promising rookie QB who's playing well.

The only way Romo sees the field again is if Dak and the team struggle or Dak gets injured and Romo is healthy and ready to play. Romo's future will all depend on Dak's performance this season. The odds favor Romo seeing the field again because he can still play at a high level but if Dak plays solid he's not going to be pulled.
