Trimming the roster

I doubt Jones and White are moved to safety. Ideally either can fill in at CB or safety in a pinch, but as far as learning and primarily lining up at one spot, I doubt they move both. And while I agree that if Jones is moved, it likely means Heath is gone, it seems Jones has been playing mainly CB at mini camp and OTAs

Scandrick - Carr - Claiborne - Jones - Patmon - White

No way they go this deep at corner, and no way does Jones fall this far on the depth chart. You could make the argument that Claiborne would be 4th rather than Jones, but I don't think that satisfies it either. White has a decent amount of starting time in this league. I don't think they brought him here to be the 5th or 6th corner. I could see him being the 2nd free safety AND the 5th or 6th corner.

We only have two free safeties on this team and that is Jones and White.

As long as MO is the 4th Corner on this team, I'll be happy.

Yes, of all scenarios, it seems the least likely that both Jones and White would be moved to Safety.

I don't see why they would keep McCray and cut Heath. Heath is a to ST player, is younger and is more of an option to actually play Safety than McCray. McCray and Heath were both on the 2013 roster and Heath started 9 games while McCray started Zero games.

McCray was brought here to be a special teams ace, at which he is better than Heath. He wasn't brought in to be a safety of which neither he nor Heath are any good.

I see the depth chart at free safety looking something like this

Jones - White - Wilcox or Jones - Wilcox - White.

Bernadeau is in the final year of his contract.

Leary will be RFA next season and a FA in 2017.

Free is 31 and had foot/ankle surgeries in both Jan 2014 and Jan 2015.

The 9th and 10th players would be Weems and Gibson.

They've invested over 2 seasons in Weems. He was on the 53 for some game at the end of 2012 and then all of 2013. He was on IR for 2014.

The OL coach and Columbo really like Gibson according to some reports.

Let's say for a second that Collins definitely goes to guard.

You still think they keep Weems with Tyron Smith, Doug Free, and Chaz Green with Gibson on the PS and Collins having the ability to kick out to tackle?

I think Weems has been a huge disappointment so far. And I remember he really struggled last year.

It's getting harder and harder to make a 53 every year. That's a good problem to have though.
This might be the year we see a couple of players traded the last couple of weeks of preseason. Even if it's a very late draft pick something is better than nothing.

How did he struggle while on IR?

I'm only saying thy don't both go. Likely to be White, even though I want it to be Jones

If Claiborne is healthy enough to go, Jones goes to safety.

You draft a corner high next year and you have.

1st round draft pick CB - Scandrick - Jones - Church/Wilcox in 2016

I would do that as well, I just don't think the coaching staff is going to do that. I think it's far more likely that Scandrick and Jones start at CB, with Carr being the 3rd corner (Scandrick moves to the slot still). I think Claiborne will be the 4th CB.

Can we have Training Camp first????

have you lost your mind!!!!!! we need to pre jump the expanded roster, than talk about the final roster and cuts before we see anything. Dont you know how this works? :p

Zero way Carr is here as a 3rd corner...

IMO, if Vaughan is not ready to be the #2 this season, then it seems unlikely that he will ever develop into a starter.

There's a difference in ready and opportunity. We likely won't know if he's ready until he's thrown out there. I think Vaughan will remain the No. 3 this season because of experience, but if he's kept after Dallas takes a long look at him it will be because the team thinks he can at least be a solid No. 2. Otherwise, there's no reason to retain him.

so, if Jones out plays him, the will keep the first round pick on the bench?

Probably. Experience is on Carr's side.

I think we want rookies to play far more than the coaching staff wants rookies to play, even Collins. Unless the rookies clearly are the much better players, coaches would rather get them experience without having to overly rely on them. As the season progresses, that may change based on what they do with their opportunities.

If Carr drops to 3rd on the depth chart he would be released.

if it happens after week one, his salary will already be guaranteed. And even if it happens in camp, it would be foolish to count on Claiborne to be the #3 considering he is always hurt.

I think Swaim might get reps at FB an H-back and being kept on the roster in place of a FB.

I think that is a great idea. Most F or Hbacks just can't block as well as a FB. I think Red loves him some FB. Hey, if Swaim can do it then great. Saves a roster spot.
