Troy always seemed mad to me.

In thinking about this Bledsoe-Keyshawn deal, and Irvin's comments, I remember always thinking that Troy should lighten up and occasionally enjoy himself. I'm not putting down Troy. He was the man. A great competetitor, like Irvin and Smith (and Johnston and Novacek). But comparing Troy to guys lke Elway and Favre, those guys appearred to have fun while they were playing, Troy never did. He always looked mad and I would often notice him chewing on somebody's butt.

I don't think it is so much that he was mad. Rather Troy was meticulous in his preparation and was a perfectionist. Those same attributes he had as a player have led to his meteoric rise in the broadcasting world.

Troy was a perfectionist. He couldn't stand when his teammates didn't execute to the best of their ability. He demanded it.

It's also part of his personality.

I've seen Troy get very excited over plays. Ones that come to mind are the NFCCG vs. Packers, muff FG game vs. Eagles, SB's of course, etc.

Yeah, Troy was like a robot on the field. Thats great when it comes to implementing the game plan, making all the right reads. he never got real fired up, but he never seemed to panic either. almost like a flatliner emotionally, and he's a little like that as an analyst, he was unbiased in the cowboys win yesterday, though he must have been lovin it.

Some approach their jobs differently than others...

Troy was the type of QB that prepared in a business-like manner, while other QB's saw it as fun...

I would rather have fun, but you can't argue with Aikman's track-record...

He seems like a really serious, analytical guy. He calls games that way to. I can't say enough good things about him as an analyst.

the only time I ever saw Troy get mad was if there was a false start....

I agree.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him become the MNF guy in 10 years....or when his contract with FOX runs out.

The one knock on Aik was he could not adjust when things went wrong - and he was a horrible Bad Weather QB - Troy needed perfect structure which is why he and Switzer clashed.

I don't care what emotion he gave off. He won when it counted most.

Troy Aikman's attention to detail was insane. BUT that's what him so good. He was incredibly accurate and wouldn't bother throwing a stupid pass out of bravado. He was careful tactician who was much more careful in regards to details than Elway and Favre. Both Elway and Favre were known to throw untimely interceptions.

And I still think John Elway is incredibly overrated. He gets credit for taking his team to three Superbowls prior to the 2 he won. Yet, those first 3 Superbowl losses were not his fault neverminding the fact that he played terrible in those 3 Superbowls and was outplayed by the opposing QB. Yeah, no one wants to remember that about John Elway. That fact is those early Bronco teams were good and had talent. No, they were not loaded with talent like the 49ers or the Giants but to act like Elway carried those teams by his lonesome is b.s. If his offensive line wasn't good enough for him to tap dance in the backfield long enough to find his receivers, he would have never made those miraculous come-from-behind victories.

My only criticism of Troy is that he couldn't create or ad-lib when the play went bust. He was too mechanical and too engrossed with a particular system to improvise or adapt to change. But if you look at our team in the early 90's, we needed a precise task master running our offense and not some hot shot fly boy like Favre who is going to throw some costly interceptions because he wants to be the hero.
