My point is when Troy does something, its assumed that its for some greater good and to help someone else. Deion decides to coach kids, and it ain't that he's trying to help, its just he selfishly is trying to raise his own profile and parlay it into a bigger job.

Yeah I don't get it either. Love the Isaac Hayes reference BTW. I read it just like that.

Considering Deion has never coached in his life, could be of course he's trying to "parlay it into a bigger job", smart to start small and see if he has what it takes to coach.
Or also considering that the job almost certainly doesn't pay much, he may just be wanting to "do good things".

But we don't know what's in his head, I'm not going to assume the worst...

You don’t go into the HOF as a member of a team.

That is not true. Sanders chose an Atlanta Falcons Helmut for his display in Canton.

    Such a silly take.

Deion has the charisma to do anything he wants to do. He could’ve stayed in television, he could’ve tried to act...heck if he really wanted to coach, I’m sure he has the contacts to get a coordinator position

He is still getting a ton of money but this is probably his smallest payday since his rookie season. I feel Deion is doing this because he wants to do it...nothing else.

That doesn’t mean he entered the HOF as a Falcon so what is not true? You don’t enter the hall of fame as a member of any team.

    Yes it is.

HOF voters vote for the player, what team(s) he was on has nothing to do with getting in. Once he's elected, the player decides what team helmet, etc. he will have on his display.
But he doesn't "go in" as a team member, only as a HOF player...

I never said the team has anything to do with HOF election. I said he "went in". I did not say he was "voted in" as a falcon. Do you not consider Drew Pearson entering the HOF as a cowboy?

I also read Nate Newton was there too.
Good to see former Cowboys teammates show support when take on different endeavors \ enter challenging careers.

    No

Pearson is entering the HOF based on his personal achievements. Same with Sanders.

OMG. Pearson is going in as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. He will have a Cowboy Jersey and Uniform on display in Canton. He cannot choose to go in as a Dolphin. Obviously, if he didn't have the credentials, he wouldn't be voted in. But anyone who has been following the HOF voting knows that who you play for does matter. Pearson was on the 70's all-decade team but it took him almost 40 years to get in. Thats politics and politics absolutely play a role in HOF election. It is not a straight statistical vote. Team accomplishments do factor into voting. Rings matter

Amazing cover man. But I cringed in agony every time he had to make a tackle.

I think what we have here is a fine point of what "went in" means. The first thing that has to happen is the HOF voters cast their ballots, and if the 75% (if memory serves) threshold is reached, then the player "goes into" the HOF. After that, the player decides under what team they will chose to be shown under as far as display, etc. But that's separate from just becoming a member of the HOF.

I'm speaking of just being voted as a member of the HOF, team designations, displays, etc. come later. Not germane to my comment.

And as far as Drew is concerned, he only played for the Cowboys, so it's a moot point for him...

Deion Sanders: Troy Aikman 'Brought Me to Tears' by Showing Up for JSU Debut
Deion Sanders wasn't the only member of Dallas Cowboys royalty on hand for Jackson State's 53-0 blowout win over Edward Waters College on Sunday.

Troy Aikman came to support Sanders in the latter's coaching debut with Jackson State.

"My man @troyaikman showed up to Veterans Memorial Stadium to watch some @gojsutigersfb today and brought me to tears that he would come to support me and my dream after a difficult week regarding weather in Texas & Mississippi," the Hall of Fame cornerback wrote on Instagram.

There are no helmets displayed on a player's bust - it's just their head. Deion added a do-rag to his.

I just do not get what you are arguing.

The claim you can choose what team you want to “enter” the hall in is false. A player donating a helmet does not mean they are choosing what team to claim for the hall of fame.

It’s possible Deion does consider himself a Falcon at heart and he wanted to be remembered as a Falcon so he donated his helmet for that reason but the HOF doesn’t see him as more of a Falcon than a Cowboy.
