Word within NFL circles is that the Vikings haven't backed off in their pursuit of Atlanta quarterback Matt Schaub and will offer their second-round pick in April's draft and an offensive player -- perhaps quarterback Brad Johnson.

The Falcons plan to tender restricted free agent Matt Schaub a one-year qualifying offer of more than $2 million Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday. Included in that tender is the requirement that if another team signs the highly regarded backup it must compensate the Falcons with first- and third-round draft picks.
