Latest rumor is that ex-Vikings wideout Randy Moss will be reunited with ex-coach Mike Tice in Jacksonville.
-- Minneapolis Star Tribune

Word within NFL circles is that the Vikings haven't backed off in their pursuit of Atlanta quarterback Matt Schaub and will offer their second-round pick in April's draft and an offensive player -- perhaps quarterback Brad Johnson.
-- Minneapolis Star Tribune

The Falcons plan to tender restricted free agent Matt Schaub a one-year qualifying offer of more than $2 million Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday. Included in that tender is the requirement that if another team signs the highly regarded backup it must compensate the Falcons with first- and third-round draft picks.
-- Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Vikings coach Brad Childress' decision to mention Kevin Curtis to local reporters last week could be a smoke screen that the Vikings are interested in other players. Drew Bennett and Donte' Stallworth also are among the veteran receivers available. One other possibility is Darrell Jackson, who reportedly is on the trading block in Seattle.
-- St. Paul Pioneer Press

Michael Strahan is scheduled to sit down in the coming days with the Giants' new general manager Jerry Reese in a meeting that will dictate where the franchise's all-time sack leader will finish his career. And, if talks unexpectedly break down, then there would be another option Giants fans would have a hard time stomaching -- Strahan finishing his career in Washington.
-- NFL.com

The buzz in Indianapolis has the Vikings in the mix for a few fairly high-profile veterans. The Vikings are expected to be one of a handful of teams that make a run at New England tight end Daniel Graham and Atlanta receiver Ashley Lelie.
-- St. Paul Pioneer Press

Seven teams, including the Broncos, appear ready to battle for free-agent tight end Daniel Graham though the Broncos might have to be creative financially. A cheaper option could be Jacksonville's Kyle Brady.
-- Rocky Mountain News

The Broncos are talking to Detroit about cornerback Dre' Bly. The Broncos are among about a half-dozen teams discussing a deal with the Lions.
-- Detroit News

A group of NFL veterans urged the league to institute a "three strikes-you're-out" policy during a four-hour meeting on player misconduct with union chief Gene Upshaw, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen, Steelers owner Dan Rooney, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis and others at the scouting combine in Indianapolis on Friday.
-- New York Daily News

Don't be fooled by police reports or a bar tab featuring several $600 bottles of Patron tequila; Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones wasn't such a high roller the night he and his entourage allegedly ignited a brawl in a Las Vegas strip club that ended in the shooting of three people, the club owner says.
-- The Tennessean

Dolphins quarterback Joey Harrington might be a candidate to become Tony Romo's backup in Dallas. It depends on how new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett feels about Harrington after working with him last season. There's a better chance that Quincy Carter will start the Cowboys' season opener than a T.O.-Jeff Garcia reunion happening.
-- Dallas Morning News

The Bears will shop Thomas Jones on the trade market and might need to choose a running back in the draft to back up Cedric Benson.
-- Daily Southtown

If Bears President Ted Phillips is counting on Lovie Smith remaining the good guy to agent Frank Bauer's bad-guy image indefinitely, he could be taking a dangerous risk.
-- Chicago Tribune

The Commanders are expected to make a push to sign free agent cornerback Nate Clements and many in the organization would be open to bringing back former Commanders cornerback Fred Smoot if he is released by Minnesota this week as expected.
-- Washington Post

Mark Brunell, 36, is in the process of restructuring his contract to significantly reduce his impact on the Commanders' 2007 salary cap.
-- Washington Post

Jeff Garcia says he is disappointed he never got a contract offer from the Eagles. "I was surprised I wasn't offered a contract. There was never anything to negotiate over," Garcia, said last night.
-- Philadelphia Inquirer

After initial conversations about a potential new contract failed to materialize, Dolphins left tackle Damion McIntosh now appears likely to join a growing list of significant players not expected to return to Miami's roster next season.

Don't even say such things in jest!

Harrington would not be a bad choice. I always felt that he could play but, like David Carr, was just in a bad situation.

It is too bad that good players get taken by lousy franchises. If I was Jamarcus Russell, I would have a special pro day only for the Raiders so I could show them exactly what I would do for their franchise.

Man...you didn't read it all the way through. He wasn't jesting at Harrington being a backup but the notion that Jeff Garcia would ever join the Boys if TO was on the team.

He read it all the way through. He was talking about the part that he highlighted.

I love how the Broncos are after all these players, yet to get one of them they "might have to be creative financially".

Could be or it could be the fact that the ealges have made a big investment in McNabb and were honest with Garcia that he will not get a chance to be the starter.

Umm, he was signed as the backup last year. Not only did they not make an offer, they didn't even contact him or his agent. I think their silence is deafening. McNabb lost four of his last five games. Garcia came in and won six of the last seven! One being a playoff game against the Giants. Lets face it, McNabb is like so many other players. Once the pressure is on, he is off. His situation with the Eagles is like Mark Messier's with the New York Rangers. He owns them without actually (in the literal since) owning them. I like to call the situation Schmuck Ownership. (tm)

It's all the Eagles fault. No player should have that kind of power.

I don't disagree but as I said if it true that Garcia wants a chance to compete for the starter’s role it will not happen on any team that has as much money invested in their current starter as Philly does in McNabb. If you don't think money factors into team’s decision then we will just have to disagree but in this day and age I think it plays a big role in how teams deal with these situations. I do think one thing came out of Garica playing which may have an impact on Philly is they tended to run the ball more often with him behind center and if Reid is smart he will continue being a bit more balanced than he has shown in the past with McNabb behind center. With Garcia at QB he avg. 23 passes a game with McNabb 31 passes a game.

Garcia knows this (McNabb is the starting QB) and yet he said he was disheartened that the Eagles didn't even attempt to contact him. (at any price) I figure at this point in his career he just wants to be in the league. No team is going to hire him as the future of their franchise at 38. Only as a backup or a place holder. That place holder better be for a West Coast offense! :)

As I said I don't disagree with you for the most part and think Philly would have been wise to keep Garcia as a backup.

They will miss him the first time McFlabb throws a pick in a big game, grabs his groin, and rolls around on the field, claiiming afterwards he had been trying to play through testicular cancer the first half the season.

Guys faking do not have surgery. Look I don't give a rat’s backside about McNabb, I do see him as a good QB and has been an asset to the eagles since he took over the job. I think a mistake Reid has made is being too 1 sided when it comes to running and passing. When McNabb did go down Reid started to be more balanced and while the big play was less of a factor it kept a so so Philly defense off the field as they were able to put together longer drives. If I were in Reid shoes I would go into next season with the strategy they ended with this past season and that is be more balanced and not rely so much on the passing game.

Wow - the last three years, the Commanders have drafted Carlos Rogers & Sean Taylor, signed Sean Springs, lost Fred Smooth, are considering bringing Smoot & Clements back in.

And people complain about our secondary.

If I were Schaub I would stay cause the NFL most overated player Vick is going to do something stupid and Schaub will start.

I was gunna say, with the way he finished last year and pulled their bacon out of the fire, you would think they would be happy to have a happy Garcia back up McFlabb again. Wow. This is approaching Commander stupidity letting your MVP go cause Chunkys not happy. I would not mind him here backing up Romo, if he would consider that.
