I agree that last night was a reality check for us. You have to give Santana Moss credit though, he flat out beat us on two plays. Granted we should have put somebody else on him, he still beat our secondary twice. It was just unfortunate they were both for TDs. Let's just learn from the mistakes and carry on. I believe we play another Moss and TO back to back here soon. If we don't learn from this, Randy and Terrell will be mopping the floor with our secondary.

Go COWBOYS!!!

I'd have no problem losing if the Cowboys utilized all of their options, especially on offense. The fact is, they let a crappy Commanders team stick around the whole game. I don't care how bad the other team is, they're going to take shots.

Again, the Commanders have great DB's but I think, on paper, we have some good players at WR also. Why not go deep? I've watched Bledsoe play a lot also and if there's one thing he hates to do, it's throw the short pass.

Sure, half the blame goes to the blown coverage on both deep passes but it shouldn't have down to that. The game should've been over in the first half. The Commanders are a terrible footballl team...so where does that leave the Cowboys?

What is sleep??? I fielded nah nah calls last night. There is no excuse for losing that game in the last 5 mins like that.. no excuse at all.

This team is better than last years team and last years team beat the skins

I agree with the grading, however... After the play calling of the 4th quarter and the loss of a 13 point lead in the last 4 mins for a loss, I wouldn't even give the coaching an F- ... I'd give them an incomplete because the coaching didn't show up and finish their job in the 4th last night.

I'm sick... I can't believe they blew that game of all games...

I will say that the flea flicker TD was AWESOME!! It was an exciting play.

Roy did some hard hitting and I liked watching him throw skins around like rag dolls.

JJ sure took some really hard hits... He sure was tough

Cortez... smack him for missing an easy 41 yrd'er.. that was the difference between a win or lose

BP - I was surprised that he was letting someone else do play calling (Payton) who did a good job..

Zimmer - ???? Don't know what to say that won't be deleted by a mod

Taking away the fact that the rivalry is now 14-2 with that loss and the skins are going to flood us until we take a win back later in the season... Overall the team (players) did really well and are starting to mesh...

You make some valid observations.......I feel the same way--great post!

With a coaching staff that doesn't have the strength to finish out a game and gets lazy towards the end.

We have a lot of young future stars on the team. They'll get it together. Through the years the coaching hasn't always been great, even in the play-off and superbowl years, but with experience the players learned how to make something out of bad play calls. A bit more schooling and the boyz will be fine.

sad loss, but it's not the end of the season... it's just started. Heck, the Eagles are 1-1 and so are we now... no need for anyone to panic yet

Not saying were world beaters or the best, but come on, Aikmans boys even lost a game here or there, remember. Staubach lost a game here or there.

We played bad, but that does not erode our talent level, it does not make a good player a sucky player. We are still the same young brash wide eyed cowboys team that beat San Diego when maybe we shouldn't have. (then again, maybe we should have won that game, seems SD has regressed). We all expected a loss in the SD game, and we won, this is the even out game. A game we definately should have won. But it seems the Skins wanted it more then the boys. This changes nothing. The skins still suck and will be lucky to get to 6-10. Maybe we will sweep Philly this year and smash their dreams to dust. Maybe we will lose to Philly and they will smash our dreams. But the one thing I do know, I would go to war with this group of cowboys with confidence. We assembled a great cast of players, young and old, and they have not forgotten how to play, They had a bad game. These things happen.

Jump off now if you want. But dont come back here singing the praises of JJ and Witten and Ware and Spears and......when we pull it together at midseason and start a roll of something special. I mean come on. I am upset as anyone today, but this did nothing to dim the glow of the future that will be Dallas Cowboys Football.

Sleep? I think I'll be using a sick day. I agree with the grades. OL played great. The 2 holding calls were pancakes. They were great, dominating blocks. I saw FAR worse from John Jansen all game, like on one of the TDs. He was constantly hooking our ends. But whatever refs. :(

Would have been nice for Julius to have gotten a few more carries, oh like 2nd and 4 at the end of the 4th quarter. 3rd and 4 at the end of the 4th quarter. 4th and 4 at the end of the 4th quarter. But whatever Parcells. :(

Zimmer called a defense on both TDs that should have stopped the kind of passes that beat us. This was a failure of personnel in my opinion - Roy and Aaron Glenn. Same play. Back to back. Moss was the only one who could have done this. Maybe we can blame Zimmer for not putting 2 backs on Moss with deep safety help and give up stuff underneath. Zimmer called a game that had the Skins shut out for 55 minutes. Portis was bottled up. I enjoyed the defense for 55 minutes. I hate the result, but Roy and Aaron missed the play.

I agree for anyone to sit here and blame Zimmer are out of their minds, we had CB and safety on Moss sorry if these guys blow the cover them blame them not the coach.

I don't know what happened. We blew it at the end. I'm gonna hear it for months from my Skins fan cousin. Fark!!!

Let's start with Cortez ... shanked an easy 41 yarder. If he hit it, we win. F grade.

Offensive Playcalling ... TOO conservative. Why not attack the first downs? Why so many underneath passes which ended up short of the 1st down marker? Why not attack the 2ndary. We were so afraid of the blitz, which never came, and we shot ourselves in the foot. D grade.

We seemed to exhale after going three and out with 5 minutes to play, up 13-0. I had a bad feeling the Skins would turn up the urgency. Had we attacked one more first down, we'd have had a chance to run out the clock. Piss poor gents.

Defensive 2ndary ... the two TD's were on Roy. Sorry, but he's a monster at the LOS, but a liability in coverage. Both those TD's were on him. Perhaps it was the scheme, but how the heck do you let those long TD's when we KNEW they needed to throw deep??? We were also totally unprepared for their 4th down plays. Seems like we let loose after Roy's sack.

Get real, the second one was on Roy but the first one was not. Roy took the slot guy on the slant and hard to break off coverage on him to make the play on moss. It was a well designed and well run play. Since when did it become cool to blame Roy for for every error in coverage. Face it, this is not a zero defect game. Which is what most of you want our guys to play. Who else would you rater have at SS? Even the best players make mistakes or just get beat, plain and simple.

Both were on Roy...the saftey IS always the Saftey..Roy let the receiver get behind him..end of discussion.

I agree 100%. I think Dallas still is a playoff team. Just look at the rest of the NFC, Dallas can contend with anyone including PHilly, but there are some obvious changes that need to be made. The good thing is that this lesson came early enough in the season for the staff to hopefully go in and make corrections for the long run. We all know teams will use those pass plays as a blue print to beat Dallas, so we must make the pass D one of our main focuses in practice.

It just sucks to lose like that, after the game was in the bag. Hopefully the Cowboys have a greater anger than I have right now and will explode on future teams leaving them with no chance for a 4th quarter comeback.

Also, thinking back, the "losing season" Cowboys have had success with the Commanders from the late 90's until now, but it was the "winning season" Cowboys of the early 90's that lost games to the Commanders. Maybe this is a sign of things to come....

once again conservative playcalling, and horrible calls on defense lose the game.

The bottom line is that we're not as good a football team as what many over the last week (and last few months for that matter) have proclaimed. We're a barely above 500 club at this point. We have some talent but we still have some very big problems including a lack of experience in some areas and a lack of talent in others.

Get ready for this kind of ride all season folks....

Exactly.

In all the enthusiasm over our magnificent draft and acquisitions, this Cowboys team is basically a team where on defense we're still learning with the new guys and still not getting pressure from our front seven without blitzing and on offense we're a team that is conservative in its play calling.

We don't want Bledsoe to lose the game for us, and it shows. We give them one "trick" play and call it a day.

The Skins knew they had to stretch the field, just like Madden was saying all night, and they did and won.

This team will get better, but we're not there yet. And with Bledsoe as bus driver, expect more conservative play calling and less risk taking.

If we had trouble covering deep on a short fast WR named Moss does this mean we could have trouble covering deep against a tall fast WR named Moss in a couple of weeks? If I recall, the later Moss has a little history against our organization--right?

Zimmer better implement something different!

I would rather see my team play solid football for most of the game and lose because of 2 mistakes, then have my team be dominated the whole game and squeak out a win with the way the Commanders did.

Yeah, it really sucked the way we lost that game, but there was a lot in that game that was encouraging, at least to me. Coaches will have to figure out what needs to be done to prevent teams from completing the deep ball like that, but i think this team is going to grow from this and come together nicely towards the second half of the season.

Yea, I would still hate to be the Commanders right now and wouldn't trade teams for anything.

I am just curious how do you expect Roy to cover to people? The play was a damn good one. Give credit where credit is due, it was designed to freeze roy adn make him commit one way or another, which is exactly what happend.
