    This is reminding me of a State Farm Aaron Rodgers insurance commercial.

    He is saying that the decision to replace Garrett has been made and the agent has been informed; however, that decision has not been made public.

    He is saying that if the decision had not been made, that his client (McCarthy) would not be interviewing.

    Coaches will interview without a public announcement of Garrett being out because Garrett's contract is up. If Garrett had another year on his contract, other coaches would not interview until Garrett was fired.

    There are likely some coaches that would insist on an announcement of Garrett's status before they interview but most are likely OK with a private assurance that Garrett has been informed.

    My Comment:
    If McCarthy was open to interviewing for OC jobs, he would have been linked to other teams for that by now...
