    1. Solidify the position

    2. Allocate most if not all draft picks towards defense in the 2021 draft. We need to build a young fast and talented defense.

Letting Dak walk would more than likely mean Dallas is using their 1st round pick in 2021 and could very well have to trade multiple premium picks to move up and get the qb they want.

Yes, Dallas would have 35 million+ of extra cap space for the next couple of seasons, but I'd rather keep Dak at a rate the team can afford and go draft a defense.

I would’ve agreed prior to last season but, it takes two to tango in negotiations and we all seen how that unfolded. A lot of things can happen next season. We could draft a QB, acquire a veteran or have some team give up on a younger veteran similar to the Murray situation in Arizona. I say this because of Clemson’s QB Lawrence. I would love to see the team settle the QB position and draft D.

I think it may be too late.

We should enjoy this season as much as possible.

Things could get ugly quickly if we don’t have a QB.

    2015 all over again.

    Let me ask this question:

If you had to choose between

    1. Dak being traded or released after this 2020 season in which the Cowboys didn't make the playoffs

    2. The Cowboys win the Super Bowl and then sign Dak to a 4 year 180 million dollar contract, 120 million guaranteed.

You must select one of these choices only. The point of this exercise is to determine priorities. My first assumption would be that everyone select 1 as their choice, just as I do. However.....it's a strange world.

Me personally, I would select option 2... Always take the Lombardi... History has shown you can go 25 years without one... Worst case scenario is you are crippled for 3-4 years and can start the rebuilding process and who knows, possibly win back to back since the deal will be back loaded to some degree keeping your core together for one more year

Like you, I would choose #1 but we will be in the small minority. For many, the ring's the thing.

And I went through all of the trips and the rings, so I am not in that group that really hasn't seen much success with this franchise so I might feel different if I was.

Matt Stafford solidified the position in Detroit

    did that get them anything?

Romo solidified the position in Dallas

did that get Dallas anything? highlights reels, that about it.

    But let's be real.

Things would've been a whole lot worse without Romo.

There is a core here that Romo never had. Except for 2007 and 2014.

If Lawrence or Prescott is the choice? No question about it but that's not the choice right now.

Depending on what team ends up with that top pick, Lawrence might not even be a trade option. And if there are several teams with poor records, the NFL might see some tanking late in the season because he was Burrow coming out of high school. He had so much light on him they had to start him and let the other QB walk.

However, if I were the Cowboys with these contracts they've already done to deal with, damned if I be giving a tier 2 QB that kind of cap space. I would have to at least try and go for a tier 1.

Obviously it doesn't guarantee anything, but if there is to be a chance a team has to identify a QB it likes and try and build something with a consistent guy under center. Just as obviously there has to be a point where the team cuts ties and moves on if it doesn't work, but not until the team has given what they feel will work a full opportunity to work. That has to be a better plan than doing what Minnesota has done where, despite having some solid defenses and teams along the way, they have jumped every year or two from Frerotte to Favre to Ponder to Cassel to Bridgewater to Bradford to Keenum to Cousins - 8 QBs within a 12 year span.

Why would anyone choose number one????

We root for a team, not the players.

    It's always about the championship.

Win the Super Bowl and lock up the SB winning QB, or don't make the playoffs and let a good QB go? That's even a debate? What are you smoking?

Everything looks great with the #2 option, except for the fact you're asking Dak to help the team win a Super Bowl when I havent seen him win clutch games in the past, and the playoffs are loaded with clutch games.

He's already better than Dak and he hasn't taken a single snap.

Ultimately what is the purpose of playing this game?

    To win.

I have seen all the Championship games but the 1971. Both wins and losses. I cannot imagine watching a team and think what I have witnessed was enough. This will start the 24th year since a championship came to Dallas. In a way this could equate to being a battered housewife. The good days are when the team hits me in the face just once.

I have tired of losing. Being an also-ran leaves me hollow.

The Cleveland Browns have won four league championships. Their first was in 1950 and last in 1965. Think those guys are satisfied?

I understand this is personal preference. I cannot understand accepting what was is enough. Just me, I guess.

Name the team and the season you witnessed before 1992 where the rushing title for the year was won by the team who also won the Super Bowl.

Just because you never have seen it with Dak does not mean it cannot happen.

Or do you believe the Green Bay game where Rodgers tossed that sidelines pass to move within field goal range with seconds left on the clock was Dak's fault?

Yep lately Dallas is doing far better than the Vikings.
