I'm hoping the greed was coming mainly from his agent.

Maybe Dak will change agents at the end of the year.

If not, then yeah Dak is being greedy and Jerry and Stephen should say bye

if we win a Super Bowl, why would we sacrifice the team afterwards for his contract? Are we expected to be like every other team that makes the Super Bowl then vanishes for 5-10 years or do we want multiple championships?

tough choice but i want a SB and overpaying Dak would be a sour but acceptable move given 120 guaranteed he could be cut after three years and it be 40per and not pay the piper year 4..

im saying 2 and it hurts but its worth it.. no draft pick is guaranteed to be either or get us to a SB..thats why

a bird in the hand is better then 2 in the bush, you take it!!

And the truth is....didn't Jerry do that for the Cowboys 3rd Super Bowl in 1995? At least that was the story line. If the Cowboys didn't pay Deion the amigo money, then Jerry and Coach #501 doesn't get that Super Bowl.

There was an either / or question asked that didn't include your options. I happen to agree that gutting the team to keep the QB is a fool's errand.

I don't understand this position of "gutting the team".

Salary caps will continue to rise, including next season. The NFL is not going to cut the cap to the point were every team is "gutted". By cutting so much talent, the product is not only weaker at a time when they nees to lure fans back, it is the incentive for a new league to emerge and grab that jettisoned talent.

A strict policy of not supplementing a much lower salary cap could be the catalyst for the return of the XFL. We don't want that.

Yep, if we win we.ve found the winning formula, meaning we wont have to spend increased CAP in free agency and improvements can be established via the draft.

The only issue with the idea of building a talented defense through the draft is that it sounds good but just like the "oh, just draft a QB" argument, relying on the draft doesnt always work ....AND we'll be lucky to get two starters from each draft and that'll take possibly two years for them to get to the NFL level.

So I disagree with your need to lockup a QB....rather, lets see what we have in 2020 (under MM).

    different era

cap and plan b FA things weren't exactly the same..so many restrictions now to force parity on the NFL

what makes it different is you actually pay after you receive the reward, ie try before you buy..he would be happy to pay after he gets his trophy vs risking paying and getting a lemon lol..

Sad part is GB had no business being in the game. We should have thrashed them like Atlanta did the next week.
Your summary is correct in a sense but misleading. Dak also lead the drives ending in punts on our second & third possessions. GB scored after each of those & lead 21-3. He also threw a horrible interception midway thru the 3rd qtr with the ball at the GB 19. To balance the scales you can't just give him credit for the good drives.
In a game that Dallas had the edge or was even in majority of the statistics, the one statistic that played a large part in defeat was 6-50 penalties compared to 3-22.

There a couple of big reason, but one HUGE reason:

    1. Top 10 QB's in their prime are too tough to find. Could be another 10 years before we draft a develop one. Could be longer.

    Then the other obvious ones:

    2. He is really good
    3. Great leader
    4. He has earned it
    5. We have no one better or any young promising QB's

How dare an employee ask to be compensated based on his actual market value? Especially when the company has paid other, less important employees, above market value.
