1. We can't tackle.
2. We can't break tackles.
Until we start to make stops when we get our hands on guys we will continue to see plays like we did today.
I watch our players on offense, and other than Austin, it seems like they expect to go down as soon as contact is made. And Witten is the worst! Touch him and he falls down. He used to be tough but not this year. In fact, I can't remember a single time this year that he broke a tackle.
Our opponents on the other hand consistently run right through our pathetic attempts at arm-tackling them. So many times we had them stopped short only to see their guy come out and gain more yards.
Tackling and breaking tackles is all about heart and desire. You have to WANT to stop your guy and you have to REFUSE to go down when hit. We don't seem to have that attitude.
Maybe Jerry is telling the players, "Hey look fellas, I've got a heck of a lot of money invested in you so don't get yourself hurt trying to gain more yards. When you feel contact, go down and we'll get another play." It sure seems like it anyway.
