Great post! I like those stats but I don't like the picture of Romo looking worried in the background.

There is no QB controversy in Dallas. We are blessed to have two franchise QB who can both take our team to the superbowl. The media and other teams are just envious of our position.

I love Dak but the game has evolved into a more favorable passing league since then. They were still playing man up then. A guy like Beasley wouldn't even get a camp invite in 2001. Shot gun formation were only used on 3rd downs.

It's a different game.

The average passer rating in 2001 was 76.6. Last year for a full season, it was 88.4, so there isn't much of a difference when you adjust their ratings.

Brady +19.0
Prescott +15.8

But Dak's edge in yards per attempt is legit. The league average ypa was 7.6 last year, and 6.8 in 2001. Prescott was a half-yard higher than the league, while Brady was a half-yard lower.

Brady -.42
Prescott +.54

Good points about the offenses. I'm not so sure that the 2016 Cowboys are better than the 2001 Patriots team that won the Super Bowl though. That was a Top 5 defense. I thought it was interesting that both Brady and Prescott had exactly 56 attempts while trailing during their streaks.

So many excuses around here.

The numbers prove Dak is having an elite rookie season. People need to stop trying put the man down and open their damn eyes. We have something special. AND THAT IS A GOOD THING!
lol. You are only blind if you do not want to see. There is a changing of the guard, its long over due, and many can not accept it. Tony Romo is finished. Simple. The King is dead...long live the King!!

It's definitely easier to throw the ball now. I don't care if Lewis and Gilbert agree or not. Ask any retired DB if they could get away with the things they did then in 2016. Every rule change has been slanted towards the offense.

But at least Percival has put it out there. He thinks, or his calculator has told him, that Rayne Prescott is better than Tom Brady.

File it away. His reputation is attached to it.

In 2001? I don't think that's true

That was talked about in the 90s also - where teams were raving about passing offenses like the "west coast" offense - and that its becoming more of a passing league. Then Emmitt Smith and our run first attack came into the picture and we dominated teams.

2016 offense makes it a lot easier on Dak compared to what Brady had to work with.
Pats defense definitely much better, so less pressure to score in that sense.

The point may be what can Dak do that he has not done?
Game 1, he could have taken advantage of the defense to stop Zeke.
He may have read defenses a bit better, but kind of hard to compare here.
He 'may' been getting a little too comfortable in the pocket leading to fumbles.
The interception looks like a miscommunication.

Basically that is not much to complain about to this point.
Dont know what else to wish for in an relatively inexperienced QB, particularly a rookie.
