Yeah, I agree, but I'm looking at it from a management standpoint. If Jerry or Stephen thinks he can play another 3 or so years, do I want to spend that much money on someone who may or may not be good.

I hear ya.

They obviously need a Qb but I am not sold on Goff. I would rather address the problem through FA, because there are a number of good prospects where they can make it work this time.

No, there are no franchise QB's in this draft. There might be QB's with that potential but overall it is weak. I rather go with RGIII or Yuck (Johnny Football) and develop them to take over. RGIII has had a year of rest so his knee should be good to go. Johnny Football is showing flashes but he needs to get his head right. Regardless, those two are ahead of any Goff type coming out of college

I don't see what all the uproar is about Goff? Trading up for this guy are you kidding me? Get your QB in FA or via trade there miles ahead of a college kid.

The best way to extend Romo's career is to draft a stud bell-cow running back and lean on him like we did Murray in 2014.

Romo's not going to change at this point in his career. Put him in 3rd and long and he's going to run around back there trying to extend the play and make something happen. And then "CRUNCH". Its over. Dude just can't get on board with "Throw the ball away and live to play another day".

first 2 rounds in either order...QB / RB or RB / QB.....we need both and there will be BPA types there when we pick.

The shot that Romo took in the back against NYG was just plain dirty.

We need a QB right now. I agree..

But what is the point if we are just going to put the guy in a position to fail and waste FA money and a premium draft pick?

That is why fixing this broken middle school offensive scheme is imo by far the top priority and QB is secondary.

As far as Roster moves, yes, QB is #1 for me.

Yup, we could roll thru QB's like Cleveland has for the last 12 yrs., but a very game savy kid like Moore showed us a glimmer of hope with the scheme....but there are not many with his game intelligencncia level, and especilally none in this draft that I'm aware of--especially spread offense/system QB's that have not been forced to make a progression read past 2 receivers for 4 years.........

Can say what you want about JFF, but he does think outside the box with a lot of playground, but sometimes "he leaves the reservation" as Parcells said about Romo also

Let me remind you that Moore (DE) was not penalized nor fined. The NFL declared that it was a legal hit on Tony Romo. They do no care about player safety or consistency.

I know people dont want to hear it. but you guys need to prepare for Romos era to end. I don't expect him to last more than 2 seasons.

So you avoid drafting him based on an irrational pipe dream? I don't care how long Romo thinks he can play if I run this team.

Timing is not always going to align perfectly. Say he says he will play three more years, you wait until when, so the rookie takes over during the final year of their contract? That is a foolish way to approach preparing for the future. Worry about the contract stuff later. Get the talent, develop them and go from there. Even if Romo thinks he can play five more years, what is the assurance that is at a high level? Guess what, nothing guarantees that. That is hope talking.

This and whomever we pick will get valuable game time regardless of how many years Romo has left.. He is Tony Romo, bad back and all.

I don't see what all the uproar is about Goff?

He's a very intelligent QB who can read the defense, adjust plays at the LOS, makes good decisions, has thrown for 96 TDs vs 30 INTs in his career, and has done it against big time competition. He's broken most of Aaron Rodgers' school records as well. He makes plays buying time in the pocket and throws with consistent accuracy.

That's about it.

Yeah... For me it just depends.

Goff is undervalued I think.

My worry with him was arm strength but evidently there are games out there showing him put a lot of zip on the football.

The only other worry with him would be taking snaps under center.

I think he has the mental makeup to be a top 10 QB in the NFL so if the Cowboys believe he is then we have to try and get him.

I'm not disagreeing but if Goff is there for us at 4 and if he's valued that high there's no way he's going to get by Cleveland or possible even San Diego. We have to be prepared to look at the second or third options at this point because if anybody emerges that high we have no shot and I do not want to move up.

Then the question will become does that second option justify the 4th pick, do we get an impact player now or do we move down.

It's all very interesting.

QB should be the #1 priority. Obviously for Romo's back up going forward but more importantly than that to get the guy we believe can replace Romo when he's done.

I don't care what Jerry is trying to make himself, or others, believe but Romo does not have 5 years left. He might want to give it 5 more years, in fact I have no doubt Romo really wants to play 5 more years. His body is simply not going to allow that.

Now that all said I have ZERO faith in this current coaching staff to prepare, and coach up, a future QB prospect. So I'm not thrilled with either QB route they go, rather they pick up a FA or draft one, I have no doubt this coaching staff will only screw the young kid up anyway.

I agree that Dallas needs to look to the future but in fairness in from 2011 to 2014 Romo has missed 2 games. Last season with the collar bone yes he missed most of the season but I think he still has some quality seasons left. Frankly Aikman was missing more time than that.

He might have more quality seasons in him, he might not.

At this point really nobody can say. Recent history hasn't been kind to Romo, however, maybe it's bad luck.

I say plan on Romo being there for 2 more years AND take a QB in the 1st round.

Does Jerry know about this?. Even he can't be that naive about commenting on Romo playing 4 more years.

Ok, I get you. That is your main board way of saying what everyone else is saying over on the rant section. Got it. I completely agree.
