Two weeks in a row...Giant foes get screwed late

Last week the officials not only blatantly missed a call on the Dez catch...but resolutely refused to even take a look at it in replay review.

This week the officials screwed the Skins out of a measurement on a sequence where officiating confusion and incompetency reigned.

Coincidence? I guess if you believe in "conspiracies" of epic incompetence. Me? I believe revenue streams and agendas rule human conduct. Yes...with billions at stake...that can mean rigging a game.

Oh...and tonight's penalty total?
Giants 1 penalty for 1 yards
Skins 8 penalties for 55 yards
Uh...ok.

The rules call for equity and give the officiating crews ample opportunity to stop play and get the thing right. Two weeks in a row the officials seemed positively locked in on not stopping the game. Not only did they not get it right...many observers might have got the impression the league's arbiters were doing everything imaginable to *not* get it right.

Why are you complaining? They are moving themselves further and further into the 1st round picks. They can win all they want.

Washington picked up the first down, Garcon fumbled the ball away. What down it started out as was meaningless.

It's not meaningless. You would obviously call a much higher percentage play on 3rd and short than you would on 1st and 10. You almost certainly wouldn't have gone for the home run shot. If the 'Skins knew they had 3rd and short they would have called a different play, possibly got the first down and won the game.

So he wouldn't throw it to the wide open guy at the 20 yd line? C'mon...AND
On the next play they threw it short and actually got the first down. Problem is Garcon fumbled it away. I guess he wouldn't have fumbled if it was second down.

They would have called a different play. Shanahan said as much and Griffin said he likely would not have looked deep on a 3rd and short. The fact that there would have been shorter routes would have certainly resulted in a different scenario which might have resulted in a catch. You are also making a huge assumption by thinking that Garcon would have fumbled it away no matter what. The refs screwed up and it might have cost Washington the game but neither of us has a crystal ball we can use to see if they would have converted and scored.

You're missing the fact it wasn't a first down. It was clearly marked short of the first down and Triplette repeatedly signaled 3rd down before the play was run. But all that was nullified when Garcon caught a short pass for a NEW first down, but had it stripped away. They called the play on 4th down that got them the 1st down, Garcon just couldn't finish the play like the Commander receivers had done all night.

They told Shanahan it was a first down after he asked for a measurement. I agree that it was short but since they told Shanahan that it was 1st and 10 they impacted his play call and thus the game.

refs are looking worse and worse each week. LOL at those claiming they were so much better than the replacement refs.

this is ending up exactly as we should hope

the giants are winning but cant make the playoffs and therefore worsening their draft position

the skins are losing but done have a first round pick

win win in my book

The Giants are getting closer and closer to picking somewhere between 10-15....which means we are going to have to watch Eric Ebron torch us down the seam for the next decade

Was it the Commanders game where the receiver in the EZ kicked the ball clear up into the stands and only go "delay of game"?
Or was it the Cards, .. pretty sure it was a red jersey.

That is "unsportsmanlike conduct " every day in my book.

The Giants got called for 1 penalty netting 1 yard. How is that even possible, especially when you know the Giants typical miscreant ways?

That Garcon play doesn't happen if the refs marked the downs correctly. You can dispute it all you want, but that's a fact. And no, that play wouldn't of been called if it was 3rd down. In RG3's press conference he even said it would've been a different called play had they known it wasn't first down. That's just simple logic, your play calling on 3rd down is completely different than 1st down.

As far-fetched as it seems, depending on how both the Cowboys and Eagles play the last 4 games, the Giants are not out of it yet.
For example, if they win out and Dallas and Philly drop 3 of 4, they are in. Serioulsy doubt that happens though.

Just go ahead and shoot me if that happens. LOL

Or if the steelers get in some how.
