Jerry Jones said last night that he will not bring in a WR that hasn't worked with Romo before. Not sure if he was bluffing or not but I made came up with two players that could be on the wish list whether or not they played with Romo before.

1) Terrence Copper: Former Cowboy who may not make the team in N.O. because of how well Robert Mechem has played and the pick up of Shockey may make him expendable.

2) Devery Henderson: He could add speed to our WR corp. Has nice size/speed combo. Could be a nice short term answer.

3) Ernest Wilford: Miami looks to cut him.

Now, on a short term fix till Austin and/or Hurd return, I like your ideas of Copper and Henderson.

Much better than wasting time on guys like Horn who can't get it done anymore, anyway. Plus, in reality, when Austin and/or Hurd returned you could still keep a Henderson or Copper on the team and drop Danny or Mike. So that works out for better depth, in the end, I think.

Where did you hear that? Miami went out and signed him as a free agent, so it seems strange that they would cut him.

I think he would be a good addition if he is cut. He is not a speed guy, but he is pretty reliable and will go over the middle. That is if Dallas does choose to go out and sign someone.

Copper is a good special teams coverage guy.

Copper was way better in New Orleans then he was here, might not be a bad pickup for a late round pick. Wilford's cap hit would be to much for Miami to release him.

I don't think its worth signing a WR that doesn't know the offense to fill in for a week or 2 and then slide down the roster once our players get healthy.

He wasn't way better. He was a little better than he was in Dallas and you would expect that because he got older and more familiar with the NFL. Dallas had him as a rookie and a 2nd year player. He was also just given more opportunities because of injuries to other receivers in New Orleans. They were forced to start him for 5 games over the last two years and they throw the ball so darn much.

They signed Killa too and look how that went.

Thanks.

I found this while checking on what the Dolphins think about Wilford:

The Miami Herald doesn't believe that Dolphins fourth receiver Ernest Wilford is in danger of being cut.
Wilford isn't even involved in three-receiver sets anymore, but his $6 million signing bonus would be hard to eat. The Herald says Wilford's struggles seem to be a "concentration and focus issue," not a lack of talent.

Wow, I remember Parcells loved Wilford and talked about how much he wanted him in that draft. I can't imagine they'd cut him.

Speaking of Parcells, he might pick up Copper because he's good on special teams. But yeah, I'd think about bringing him in if NO cut him and we had the chance. He's not bad and can cover kicks.

Miami Dolphins receiver Wilford makes strides

Posted on Fri, Aug. 29, 2008

STEVE KASHISHIAN / AP
Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Cobbs (38) tries to push off New Orleans Saints safety Lance Schulters (24) in the second half of an NFL preseason football game in New Orleans on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008. The Dolphins won 14-10.

With final cuts looming, and an unimpressive showing during training camp from wide receiver Ernest Wilford, it has become realistic to wonder whether the nicely paid veteran could be on his way out.
If that were the case, Wilford certainly gave Miami's new regime something to think about after Thursday's game.
Wilford, who apparently had a much better week of practice, looked much more impressive during the second quarter.
His most impressive reception, albeit against Saints backups, was a 26-yard catch on a pass from rookie quarterback Chad Henne.
Later in the drive, Henne connected with Wilford again for a 9-yard catch, which set the Dolphins up for a 1-yard touchdown by Ronnie Brown.
''We let [Wilford] use his body a little bit, which is something that we really wanted to see,'' coach Tony Sparano said. ``He did a nice job.''
Before Thursday, Wilford had caught only three passes for 12 yards during the first three preseason games. His longest was a 7-yard reception.
Even with the struggles, it has been tough to fathom that Miami really would release the veteran wide receiver after paying him a $6 million signing bonus in March.
MISSING IN ACTION
The Dolphins apparently decided to leave any players named Joey behind in South Florida for their final preseason road trip to New Orleans. Linebacker Joey Porter and cornerback Joey Thomas both stayed home.
Porter's absence makes some sense because he has been dealing with back issues that have caused him to miss multiple practices recently. Porter underwent numerous tests throughout the week in further attempts to diagnose what has otherwise been a mysterious injury.
He has expressed a level of uncertainty to teammates about whether he will be ready for next week's season opener against the New York Jets.
Thomas' absence, however, is somewhat tougher to explain. The cornerback missed both of the team's practices this week because of headaches, Sparano said. There has been no indication that Thomas sustained a concussion, but it shouldn't be ruled out.
His absence isn't likely to help his cause, since Thomas already is on the bubble of making the team. Thursday would have been a crucial opportunity for him to earn a roster spot.

I could have sworn it was reggie williams that he really liked. I remember reggie williams hearing about his comments and finding him on the field after the 06 opener and shaking his hand.

I am way too lazy to go back and look up those old PC's though.

That's what I remember about Copper ... he was a good special teams player.

Oh, and the TV people routinely call him Cooper.

I just don't see anything happening......

How can nothing happen? Somethng has to happen, or does it? CC, you just blew my mind.

-I always kind of liked Wilford. Id pick him up if hes cut, he could even stick long term. I wouldnt be too worried if he looked bad, who has he had to throw to him so far?

Something needs to be done, short term, Terence Copper makes some sense.

If we get Copper back, will we have to listen to every announcer call him Cooper every single game again? I mean can these people not read the back of his freakin' jersey? :(
