I don't think they can afford to swap centers after also cutting JSmith... can't tick around with team chemistry too much at one time.

This is true. And it's important to keep in mind this happens to other centers. It's not like its an exclusive issue for him.
exactly. Even Fred Beard had his times. In the NFL, everyone is good on both sides of the lines.

Im not too worried. He has less than a full season's experience as a starter, and truly only one preseason and full training camp. With that being said, is it safe to say he actually ahead of schedule? He was a 4th round pick right, so I dont think he was expected to be a pro-bowler his first year. Fredbeard was a 1st rounder, so those expectations should be high from day 1.

Speaking of smaller centers. Looks like Step is spending a lot more time with the chronic than the gym.

He got pushed around against Philly....Cox and company...so people ran with it. They like doing that....he and Williams struggled in that game, but bounced back nicely against Carolina.
Cox has been tough for a lot of centers.

I kind of get that, but I think the policy that instills the most effort is guys knowing that the best player will have the job. It's disheartening in any job to know that people get their positions for things other than talent.

Ball and Farniok will prove invaluable to the team at some point this year or next. Just remember I said that. These dudes are the real deal. Both mean and nasty.,This line is built for the longterm.

I think he just got overmatched on intensity a couple of times. He does well in normal pass protection but a few times he just got blown up. Seemed caught by surprise. Maybe it is technique or lack of focus.

I hear Cox may be a trade target. We need 2 watch that. I think a third rd pick I may do it.

So far, I been wrong about Tyron. He's been healthy and great.Boy was I wrong about Steele. He has saved the teams bacon.

Have you ever heard the saying “a rising tide raises all ships?”

I’d be interested in seeing Biadasz’s individual grade. That said, I usually don’t put too much stock in PFF grades one way or the other.
I find the PFF grades "interesting" and nothing more. I feel like they would be a terrible evaluation tool.

Not just Philly. When a lineman gets bull rushed into the QB it is pretty noticeable and we saw it when Vita Vea did in Week 1. Then we saw it the following week when Linval Joseph did it. Then Hargrave had his way with him. And it wasn;t just Biadasz. Connor Williams got bent over the blocking sled a few times but Cox and Hargrave too.

I really think it is a technique issue with the both of them. They are fine run blocking but pass blocking they tend to get shoved around a few plays by the bigger stonger DTs.
Not technique, just too small and not strong enough to deal with top notch players.

We were absolutely spoiled by Fredbeard coming in and pretty much owning all but the very best DTs he faced. This after the disastrous mess we had at center with Costa and the cast of jags.

So we drafted a guy who was excellent in college but unlike Fredbeard NOT thought to be someone that could step in right away and play at a high level.
Add to that no training camp and not much of a season after that.
In many ways B is almost a rookie.
So to expect him to play at a pro bowl level at this point in his career is just plain dumb.

Why does he seem to have a bad rap here or some believe we need to replace him?

It seems like he is doing a solid job out there as the starter for being a 2nd year player drafted in the 4th round.

Dallas has the highest graded oline.

He can't be doing poorly.

Am I missing something?

the cowboys fanbase demand perfection. god forbid if any player is not in probowl consideration. with that said Biadasz is playing well in run defense. certain areas of pass blocking he struggles with and he gets pushed back by bigger defenders, which is more of a technique issue right now than just strength. he is a little too high in his stance and allows the defender to get their hands inside and he gets stood up and pushed back. correct those and he will be fine....stepnoski was only 265 (small even for the 90s OL men) but had impeccable technique......

his pass protection against DTs isn't very good. Same for Williams. They both looked bad in the Philly and Tampa games.
The didn’t look bad. They had a few plays where they got mauled but overall they’ve played well in pass protection. In this two games you mentioned, they had some awfully tough assignments and performed well considering.

He isnt doing poorly by any stretch. He had some pass protection issues against the Philly dudes who are amongst the best in the league.

By "issues," I mean he was pushed back a little....and on one particular play, a lot....which would have gone unnoticed if CD didn't slip.

His run blocking has been at a very high level.

He had one bad play in each of game two and three. He was pretty good last week overall.

Those gaping holes we see in the beginning of games, just before that becomes not good enough to stick with....he is right in the middle of.

It's because you can't spell his name.
