BEFORE the Dolphin game (off Ed Cahill's Twitter): "Secondary coach Henderson told me before the game that they "may have found one" with Tyler Patmon. Looks like it."

Mitchell and Patmon have both earned a roster spot, imo. What happens to one of them after Oscan returns, I'm hesitant to think about. We have lots of young talent -- too bad they can't all be kept active but some will be put on PS to be pilfered by opponents. One or two of our plentiful and talented young WRs may conceivably be used as trade bait to obtain defensive talent.

Sounds like the staff was well aware of his talents in advance of what he did last night. That likely bodes quite well for his future.

last nights game just made him more noticeable to other team's if he gets cut...he likely has done enough to earn a roster spot already based on the comments during TC

What's it going to be then, eh?

Hopefully that effort boots B.W. Webb off the team. I have no interest seeing him try to play slot cornerback.

“I see this guy No. 20, this defensive back, I don’t even know the guy,” Kiffin said. “I want to see him out there. He reminds me of Ronde Barber. I don’t know that he’s Ronde Barber now. It’s exciting.”

- Kiffen on Patmon.

Monte is so senile everyone reminds him of Ronde Barber.

This was way back in minicamp. He wasn't even on the roster at that point.

He has the eye of the coaching staff. I would say it's pretty likely he makes the team.

You should post more often.

Yep, I remember that. Was wondering if it was the same guy, at first I kinda rolled my eyes at that quote but now it looks like Kiffin may actually know what he's talking about?

He made more plays in one game than Webb has made in his short career. I didn't watch the game but it looks like he's a gamer in this scheme, and people thinking he could make the PS don't really understand how absolutely terrible some team's 3-5 corners are, some of them are really, really bad. He'd never clear waivers.

To anyone that watched him, what kind of coverage were they putting him in?

i would rather keep DBs like patmon and mitchell who are not timid and will tackle and hit you with all they got,we have 2 weak CBs on our roster already.

So was Minter last week. Preseason makes HOFers of us all

Patmon has been good all preseason.... not as good as last night but still. His name is on the lips of every multimedia journalist for our team every week and they are right there to actually see.... Not to hijack the thread but the crew on talkin' cowboys and the lunch break have really been spot on in their analysis, in my opinion. Their might be little discrepencies but they are really right on in their overall evaluations. I like them.... let the torches be thrown... :D

He played both man and zone. He had a pick he man coverage vs the ones and the pick for TD was in zone. I think he excells in zone coverage, he reads the play very well. The one he INT for a TD he was on the right side of the field and ran all the way to the left side for the pick. Was amazing if you watch the reply and how fast he reacted

I have seen too many pre seaon legends ceated against other teams twos and threes, exposed against other teams ones.

Ah, you're holding out for... who, exactly? We're talking about making the roster, no who you're going to cover Calvin Johnson with.

His pick six was pure recognition. He had seen something that made him jump that route so well.

It wasn't a solo play. Pressure on the QB blinded him to a streaking Patmon, no way to know if the QB makes that throw if there isn't a guy breathing down his throat. It all starts up front, but obviously Patmon was already making a beeline.

The coaches, including Garrett talk very good about him. With Webb's hip injury, I think he makes it for sure. Well, even if Webb was healthy, he still makes the team over Webb.

Think this dude deserve a serious look next week against Denver. We need playmakers and he showed tonight he can be just that.

He also showed really good speed chasing down the RB that busted loose for what would have been a TD.
