    FRISCO, Texas – Call it a good first day at work.

    For all the talk and anticipation, Tyler Smith realized sometime Friday morning that this was just another football practice. And while it might have been his first time playing guard in quite some time, the Cowboys' first-round draft pick was pleased with the result.

    "It felt good, I won't even lie," Smith said. "You surprise yourself sometimes. It was a great feeling."

    I like Smith better as a prospect than Connor Williams. Smith is already much stronger than Connor was.

    Easier to live with a few penalties if the guy is a roadgrader.

    Hopefully this opens up our redzone and shirt yardage run game

    He will have fewer penalties at guard and no question greatly improve the red zone running game.

    First day at work in a new position and he's feeling surprisingly comfortable. I'm optimistic that he will pick up things fairly well and have a good season.

    Big, strong, smart and nasty, I'm not going to bet against him :)
