I see some people question the size of Lewis, but Lewis is bigger than Mathieu.

Mathieu has played slot CB, outside CB, SS and FS in the NFL. In 2015 he played Safety in base and moved to slot CB in the Nickel. He has played outside CB and has had success defending TEs.

My fear stems from the concern for injury. Lewis size being compareed to Mathieu's size doesn't ease that fear seeing Mathieu's injury history.

Lewis won't be playing any safety. He won't take quite the punishment that HB has, although it likely won't be that different.

One of the main keys in staying healthy (besides dumb luck), is how limber a guy is, as well as how he takes care of his body. If a guy is tiny, then maybe it would make a big difference... but Lewis is just below what teams look for size wise.

If Lewis were an inch taller and 10 pounds heavier people would be saying he has very good size... and that wouldn't really help him stay any healthier.

Within three seasons, he'll have that added 10 pounds and fully functional when there.

If Lewis compares to Mathieu in performance in the pros, that'll be some pretty fast company he's in! His college history does appear quite encouraging in that respect, though. No doubt, we'll all be anxiously watching his progress before long. I'm preparing myself to be patient with him until he gets his feet solidly under him in the meantime, however. Cornerback is understandably such a highly demanding position.

Very demanding position !!!! A CB is out there on an island alone.

Odd player to compare against X.

Lewis won't be asked to play safety. The debate is whether he can play outside CB effectively, so a comparison to undersized outside corners like Brent Grimes or Janoris Jenkins would've been more interesting to look at.

If used correctly, Lewis can be a very effective cornerback in this league.

There is far too much emphasis placed on being "tall" and "having length".

The name of the game is coverage. Going where the other player goes.

Match them off the jam with strength, stay close and track the football in flight.

If that means OMG they might complete a fade or two, I will take it.
