I get you.

But our preferences and what realistically the coaching staff would do are 2 totally different things.

We're moving everyone but Leary in your scenario and Parnell is the next man up at LT on our depth chart and is certainly the more experienced player there.

Martin's got an easier shot moving 1 spot over two the right and being successful there than going all over to the left side and doing so.

ya...but we drafted martin and fred based on they could both be moved. and bernadeau can do decent enough at center while keeping all the power guys flanking him.

hmmm scenario for sure.

They definitely were drafted because of flexibility and talent.

if both free and tyron were out

I think:

LT - Martin
LG - Leary
C - Bernadeau
RG - Fred
RT - Parnell
Wow. There's zero chance of that. If negative chances were a thing, that's what it would be. It's almost impossible to imagine a scenario where a healthy Fred doesn't play center.

Interesting to ponder how they would maneuver guys if Tyron couldn't go. Maybe:

LT Parnell (longer arms than Martin)
LG Leary
C Frederick
RG Martin/Bernadeau
RT Hawkins/Hills/Martin

Of course he is going to play. Never doubted it for a second.

;) until I read the thread, then I worried some.

Parnell may be longer and overall better athlete, but I worry about his focus and football IQ on the RIGHT side, I would be be downright nervous wreck if he had to play LT. Smith going down for any length of time would be bad in any event but Martin may need to take some practice reps at LT just in case.

Judging from the sound of things (both Smith and Broaddus) don't think it's anything to worry about. That's good enough for me. I won't fret over this until I've heard there's actually a problem. Just precautionary, methinks.

In preseason Parnell was the only other guy to get snaps at LT besides Smith. Martin may be an option for sure but they didn't play him at OT at all in the preseason.

So can I come in off the ledge now??

If dallas had a scenario where Tyron went down for an extended period. Martin would have to play some tackle. Slide Mack in at guard and go. I think he would be good at tackle. Though I can't imagine him not doing well on the field. If he can play RT, that's where he needs to play because tackles are generally harder to find and more expensive than interior olineman.
