I was at the game yesterday, front row on the field level in the end zone. We are in trouble for the rest of the year IMO. We will win the easy games, sure.. but we have nothing for the Giants, or the Eagles. Those 2 teams have way more heart than we do and play/coached with a passion to win. We are just flat out unmotivated. This team is turning into the 2010 Cowboys all over again, the only difference is our easy schedule. We have major problems on both sides of the ball. Our defensive line doesn't put much pressure at all on the QB besides Ware (That has to piss him off to no end) We made Tavaris Jackson look good yesterday for the most part and we all know he is a terrible QB, he had ALL DAY to throw yesterday. Also, Lynch pulled out the beast mode on our WEAK run defense thanks to players like James and Brooking looking clueless out there. We allow 69 yards on average for the first 6 weeks and then the next 2 games we allow over 150? What the hell happened besides Lee(2nd year player) getting hurt? No other players can step up? Newman is a decent tackler and that is it, he gets burned repeatedly, sometimes he is running right along the WR and doesn't even stick his hands up. Our offensive line is flat out bad. Romo looks like he doesn't care and is burnt out on football.

This team has no identity at all. A few players get nicked up and the team heads south in a hurry. I believe that is due to not having enough depth and the coaching staff can't fire up these guys. I believe we have so many bad players that it brings this team down.

Here are a few players off the top of my head that HAVE TO GO.. there are more than this though.

Bennett
Ogletree
Newman
James
Brooking
Spencer (Although he had a nice kick block yesterday)

Why do you have to get rid of Newman?

If he comes down on his salary i'd like to keep him..

Also is Asante Samuel a FA?

Dooms,
I value your opinions. What do you disagree about?

He is injury prone, and he gets burned all the time at the job he is supposed to be good at. Plus we pay him a fortune. I assure you that he will not be here next year. If we can get him at league minimum and keep him on the sidelines for emergencies, then I'm cool with that... IF we have a roster spot open.

I disagree when you claim this team has no passion I think your wrong. You make a claim about not being able to overcome injury yet we have had to deal with many injuries and have seen many of the backups come in a do a decent job. You talk about beating the easy team and while I agree Seattle is not a major player they did knock off the Giants in NY so to act as if these are no body teams is non sense watch other games around the NFL these so called easy teams will take down top ranked teams.

As for making Jackson look good? Dallas held him to a QB rating of 40.4. In a league that is made for passing that is a pretty crappy day

I agree with the OP that there are problems, but I don't see a lot of them being as severe as indicated.

For example, could Murray continue to gain the yards he does if the O-line had nothing. Murray is making some nice reads and cuts, but somebody has to be moving the bodies where there are holes for him to read and cut to. i also thought for the most part Romo had enough time to find receivers. The line will have some ups and downs, but I don't see the hopelessness some apparently do.

As for Newman, I've been hard ion him myself at times, but while he did screw up and let a receiver behind him in one play, he also picked off passes, jumped routes and overall had a pretty good day. He isn't worth his current salary, but he is worth having if we can get him at a more reasonable salary.

As for Spencer, another guy I have been hard on at times, he actually had one of his better games even aside from the blocked FG.

The big disappointment for me in this game was Lynch running all over us. I really didn't expect that.

Seattle knocked off the Giants in NY on the last play of the game, that is true but the Rams beat NO too. Any terrible team is capable of beating a good team on any given Sunday. The team we played yesterday looked decent against us because we played bad. Lynch ran all over us because of our lack of depth at ILB. Tavaris is a terrible QB, otherwise he would have torched us, why? Because of our lack of pressure on him.

I can agree with you that some players have stepped up due to injuries to starters and played "decent", nothing impressive though. Other than Murray.

I disagree with you on the passion part. Only a few players on this team have passion. The players that lack it far out number the players who have it. Look at other teams in the league who have it... All of their players have it.

I'm a season ticket holder and have followed the Cowboys all my life, I'm a huge fan, I'm just calling it like I see it.

I think our offensive line is better than last year, but that isn't saying much at all. Newman picked off a pass only because Tavaris floated the ball up into the air because we put pressure on him. One of the few times during the game we actually put pressure on him.

There was no excuse for Lynch running all over us like that. There is also no excuse for us to be playing Bradie and Brooking as our starting ILB'S.

And just because you call it like you see it does not mean I agree with it.

You have an opinion I respect that being a season ticket holder so what. I have watched very game from 1965 to the present only missing 1 game in all those years. That does not make my opinion any more or less than your own.

As I have mentioned in other threads this team still has a lot of work to do and things we must improve on. There are many teams in the NFL in that same boat.

Doom,
I'm not sure why you are getting so confrontational with me man. We both have opinions, so what is your point? I never said mine was better than yours did I? We are both huge Cowboys fans which puts us on the same team. I respect your opinion, especially since you have seen every game since 1965! I wasn't even born yet! Ha.

I was very impressed with this team at the beginning of the season and especially excited about our defense but feel like we are really spuddering now and we are lacking enthusiasm to be a contender. I hope I'm wrong and we can turn it around. We certainly could pull off several wins in a row with Buffalo, Washington, Miami, and Arizona coming up and maybe that will give us the confidence we so desperately need.

For our offensive line to be better than last year with so many young, inexperienced players, why wouldn't you be encouraged that there is room to improve more?

As for Newman, yes, Jackson floated teh ball, but Newman still had to have been in position to take advantage of it. Overall Newman had a strong game with one noticeable lapse.

I have nothing to say about Lynch. That shouldn't happen.

I also agree with parts of what you said man.

But, dont come here making inflammatory statements and expect for the passion you speak about not to rear its head with the posters here.

I am encouraged that there is room to improve, I just don't know how much we can improve in the middle of the season. I want to see our whole team play with more fire. We look lost out there at times and don't seem to be on the same page. We have no excuse for playing Brooking and James as our ILB. What a joke!

I expect people to disagree with me. When did I say I didn't? I'm cool with that. Last I checked this was a forum where we have discussions.

Part of improvement comes from gaining experience, so from that standpoint I think the O-line can improve as the season goes on. Realistically Murray is getting some running room, and Romo is able to pass. Sure it would help to give Romo more time, but for the most part he can do something unless receivers just have a hard time getting open and he is forced to hold the ball too long. The pass blocking isn't ideal, but I think it's coming around a little at a time.

As for Brooking and James, they were doing a good job rotating at one spot while Lee handled the other, but with Lee out we are in a bit of a bind. The coverage problems against the Eagles I felt were more a problem with the game plan because no ILB can handle the entire middle of the field with the safeties playing 20 yards deep, but I was disappointed we didn't do a better job against the run this week. I wouldn't have guess Lynch would run through us like that, and the ILBers have the bigger share of the responsibility for that.
