I agre with the fact that it shouldnt be our home game because we are entering our final year in the old and then in the new - but as a visiting team maybe so.

The news is the league has 13 matchups on the shortlist of which ten involve a playoff team from this year - so if not us who would you think is likely to come over??

Pittsburgh have a good following and everyonre would love to see Green Bay or New England over here ( so we can just hurl abuse at them )

I just fail to see how this would lead to revenue generation for the league, and I think thats why Jerry doesn't care for it. The world's apetite for American Football on a permanent basis is even less than the typical American's apetite for the original Football (soccer)

but Canada has the CFL so why would we take it there?
For the same reason why Canada wants an NFL team. The CFL is not the NFL. NFL games should be played in areas where there is NFL support, and that's in Canada.

Bills announce plans to play games in Toronto

Besides, Europe had its chance with NFL Europa and it didn't exactly embrace it adoring support. Let Europe have it's soccer and leave football for this side of the Atlantic.

Way to think global!

Let's not increase the revenue pot for the owners and players.

Let's not expand the fan base and sell more TV rights around the world.

It's just a matter of time, the NFL, along with the NBA, NHL are expanding.

There's an entire world out there to conquer.

I would hate it. I don't think teams should be playing out of the US. It is to hard on the clubs w/ all of the travel and then the game and then all of the travel.

It's silly.
Send New England or Washington!.

Hey if Britain wants another sport so badly, lets send them hockey. NHL can play their entire season over there for all I (and many others) care. :D

I think clearly it helps the league and the billionaire owners but does it help the Cowboys?...Can't imagine it makes much of a dent in their merchandising sales anyway...The fatigue factor will be significant as jetlag is a pain to recover from, even just to London.

And, let's face it, American Football is never going to displace Football in Europe...Seems like a nice idea but the nature of the sport simply isn't of interest for Europeans...Only a margin of society will find passing interest.

American Football has a HUGE fan base outside the US.

Mexico, Germany, UK, and Canada are just some examples.

It's interesting that one of the most successful sports franchises in the world is owned by an American - M Glazer (who also owns the TB Bucs), who owns Manchester United. And the guy who helped develop Vail (sp?) ski resort also owns a soccer franchise in the UK.

I'm telling you, sports is seen as an entertainment BUSINESS worldwide.

That's why the NBA spends so much time going to China, France, etc.

This is the American way. You take risks, you maximize your profit potential.

Actually, I wouldn't necessarily send the Cowboys to the UK (I'd love it though). Mexico or Canada make more sense.

It would make more sense to send an East Coast team (not Miami, please).

New England, Washington, TB, NYG, Pitts are all very popular here.

You make some good points...Business is business and that applies to professional sports, as well...I'd also concede that the UK & Germany, in particular seem to fare well with American Football but that seems to be more a product of American influences there (not to mention military bases etc fostering interest).

Canada and Mexico (And Mexico really surprises me with their interest, honestly) are also true but again a product of being inundated with the marketing for North America.

But, that's it, really...As much as Germans are interested in American Football, can't see part of the league taking root...NFL Europe has been a pretty big disappointment save for a few small markets...Just can't see it taking root.

As for these games in London, I think it's probably a nice attraction for the Brits and for the NFL, obviously...However, it should be at the beginning of the season, IMHO...That or allow for a bye week to sandwich the games...They say you need 1 day for every hour of time difference to recover and a trip to London would require just a week to get back to normal let alone preparing for the next game.

I don't know, just my opinion but I find it a bad idea.

The jet lag isn't really THAT bad from the East Coast to the UK.

It's about a 7 1/2 hour flight from Boston and NY. It's only about 2 hours more than flying from NY to LA.

But Mexico and Canada should be no problem. (Ask Romo :D )

But as the US market gets saturiated, the NFL needs new markets to continue to grow. (Like any other business, whether it's Coke, Ford, or Microsoft.)

Hey, 8 hours is 8 hours...Come on...And that's assuming you're coming from Boston which is already on the edge of the pond, nevermind Dallas, TX.

I agree, for the Cowboys it doesn't make as much sense.

But Tampa Bay vs. Philly, for example . . . . or NE vs. Philly could work.

It could be during one of Dallas' road games, so Jerry would not lose revenue.

I think Dallas will play an out of country regular season game eventually, but it won't be next season in London. I can see Mexico being the better option due to proximity. Closer than going to their NFC East rivals or Seattle.

The Giants and Dolphins going to London was probably not much more traveling than going to Denver or Seattle. Plus their schedules were worked to give them their bye week after that game.
Yeah, it will probably be a road game. I'd prefer the Cowboys don't play overseas and if they do I hope its not the Browns or Steelers game next year because I plan on attending both if they stay put.
