Sounds like he's getting 2 or 3 million per year as in multiple years...not just for one year.

I agree, this could make a mess of the front office. Wade is getting mixed signals, he isn't stupid, even before he took the job he knew Garrett was hired to be OC or HC. Jerry is playing a dangerous game here, he's basically hired two head coaches and one of them will not be with the team at the end of 2009.

Some posters are assuming what Wade would feel or think, but it seems to me that Jerry would have talked to Wade prior to giving Garrett a raise.

I don't look at it that way. It doesn't have to be one vs. the other. Everyone has their role on this team. We need both Wade and Jason. We need a mature and experience presence at head coach while needing a intelligent and aggressive person as OC. I don't mind Jason becoming the head coach one day but I would prefer Wade be the head coach next year because he has experience. I think it will only improve Jason Garrett has a potential head coach with another year as OC under his belt. Hopefully, Wade can get more of his guys on the defense instead of being forced to working with Parcells players.

I agree to some extent.

The problem, in my eyes, isn't just with Wade's preception of retaining Garret at what he's costing us. The problem is with the rest of the staff and the players. This starts to make it look more and more obvious that Jason will take over for Wade, possibly within the next year.

Now, all the staff has to wonder who to show the most alligence to. The guy that's running things now or the heir apparent. The same with the players. Wade may see it as undermining his authority, and since he's so laid back, he's probably not going to be able to sit Jason down and say, "Hey, glad you're staying, but this is still my team."

We all liked what Jason did with our offense, although I feel it had as much to do with not having conservative Parcells around than anything else.

This could get ugly with the players not respecting Wade as coach. Sort of like the Dave Campo situation when everyone knew that Parcells was waiting in the wings. The difference is that the Campo situation was late in the season. This soap opera will go on from now until the end of next season, however it ends.

Possibly but they didn't respect Campo long before the Parcells rumours came to the forefront.

Or he gets the Dallas job in 2009

:hammer:

This is the deal: Wade you get us to the Super Bowl and win, and you get to go out on top. Wade you don't get us to the Super Bowl, and you start looking for a job somewhere else.

Let's be honest, Wade is a great defensive coordinator but hasn't been a great head coach. That goes back to his days in Denver and Buffalo. He was criticized then for essentially being a DC with a head coaching title. His Broncos and Bills teams had great defense but practically no offense.

This is not a young team like the Cardinals who need a father figure to look up to. This is a group of experienced players that know what they need to do. They don't want a Parcells type of figure that is going to command them. That's why Wade was brought here so I didn't think it matters if the players don't worship Wade. He is not that type of coach.

Jason Garrett is intelligent enough to recognize the job will eventually be his so he is not going to disrupt the ship and try to undermine Wade. Why would he? It's not like he has to prove himself to get Jerrry to force Wade out. Jerry made it clear to him the future job is his. I don't think Wade is unaware of that either. Wade has been in the NFL for a long time. I think he is prepared to lose to the job at some time to Garrett. If that's the case, there will be a lot of job opportunities for Wade and he is aware of that. Plus, it's not like Wade is an offensive guy. Wade will stick to the defense and let Garrett run the offense. There will be no conflict there.

What suprised me is why guys like you never addressed the Sparano vs. Garrett situation. Sparano was essentially demoted on the same team. You think Garrett liked Sparano breathing down his back? I'm sure Garrett felt that Sparano's influence undermined his role there. That's not me saying that Garrett hated Sparano or that Sparano tried to mess with Garrett but it is what it is.

Wade has to get a raise or we will having problems. Not a good situation.
Not that I would agree. But if JJ thinks that much of Garrett he needs to say goodbye to Wade.

They obviously weren't on the same page the last half of the play-off game.

Only for 1 year?

That's what nfl network is reporting?

The one year gives Jerra room to tolerate Wade one more year then dump him.
And waiting in the wings will be Jason Garrett.
Sweet.

If you're looking for your testicles, Wade, they just rolled underneath the couch. Don't get too cozy with that parking space.

With all due respect, a raise for what?

13-3 and one and out in the playoffs does nothing for this team as far as a Super Bowl.

You inherit talented corps of players and even Campo could have gone 13-3.

Raise?

If Wade gets upset, who cares? Show him the door.

This issue of money is all speculation, just as it was speculation by ESPN that Garrett was gone.

The fact is, Jerry is not going to let Jason go because of continuity on the offense, which includes the further development of Tony Romo. The latter portion is one of the main reasons Jerry brought him over in the first place. Tony Sparano surely isn't the one to develop the guy.

Jason and Tony have already established a relationship.

That inherited corps of players got real far before Wade came in...

Maybe these inherited corps of players aren't really as talented as people say they are. I mean, Bill Parcells is the guy that knows LBs, and they were part of the reason we were so bad on 3rd down defense. Jacques Reeves wasn't picked by Bill Parcells, and he left us Aaron Glenn in the nikcel, who couldn't land a starting role in Jacksonville. Bill Parcells left the Free safety position lacking, and Jerry had to go out and get Hamlin.
