ESPN just reported could be longer than 6 weeks and injury is similar to Lawerence last year. 5th metatarsal bone on foot. NFL network is reporting this

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the "belief is" Dez Bryant (broken foot) will be ready to return closer to four weeks than six.

Bryant will likely undergo surgery on a broken bone in his right foot on Monday. If Bryant is able to hit the bottom of his 4-6 week timetable, he could be ready by Week 5. The Cowboys have a bye Week 6, however, so the safe move may be to let him rest through the bye even if he is close to 100 percent. Terrance Williams will take over as the No. 1 receiver in Dallas with Bryant sidelined.

Regarding the Lawrence injury. I heard someone in last nights post game show state the Cowboys actually felt Lawrence could have returned sooner. Don't know how accurate that was and how it relates. There'll be a ton of speculation over the next few weeks. I guess we'll just have to go with He'll be back when's he's back.

Clear as mud.

Agree no one likes losing maybe your best player but he will be back and has more time to get that hammy 100%. Also on ESPN they are reporting the Cowboys "may" look outside the organization for help. Irvin on the Fan moments ago stated " Faulk told him CM was hiding up there in Hawk land and is a beast and will be the starter within two weeks".

Excuse my ignorance, but who is "CM"?

Knowing Dez, he'll be back sooner rather than later. Hopefully, he will listen to the doctors and not overdue it while the bone is healing.

Think he already was, looked like the trainers had to pull him back into the locker room after the win.

This has been talked about this morning on The Ticket and The Fan.
Said last year the Cowboys put DLaw on the IR to return list. Then they wished they had not, as DLaw was ready withing the 6 weeks recovery time. But that list requires 8 weeks. So they will not put or should not put Dez on this list.
They could have had DLaw back much sooner last year. So they had learned something from this type of injury.

Cristine Michael (sp?)

If he doesn't go for more than a hundred and average at least 5 yds per carry in his first action, a lot of people on here will be calling him Christina...:)

Knowing Dez, he'll be back in 3-4 weeks, whether it's the right thing to do or not. I think the best option would be to have him come back after the Patriots game + the bye week for the Giants game in week 7. But let's say we lose our next 3 games (God forbid)... then Dez might force himself to come back week 5 for the Patriots game.

Our receivers are going to have to learn to not kill the team with turnovers if we want a change over the next 6 weeks. The two that can flourish in Dez's absence is Beasley and Escobar. Our running game is going to have to get going. We are going to have find a horse and ride it. I don't like the RB by committee because they never get their rhythm going.
