Urban Meyer wouldn't last 3 years here.....And actually.....he's not a very good X and O's guy. He's just another puppet. Guy has made a living off of up and coming assistants. Plus he wouldn't be a grinder....he'd want to go play golf...hang out with his family....ect. I'd pass.

Who's the last big college coach to succeed in the NFL? Don't they pretty routinely get the crap kicked out of them? Unless they go from like, college to offensive quality control and get promoted upwards over 5-6 years

"Swagger" is obfuscation. It's only okay for players if they're basically like the guy who beat the holy hell out of the Irish MMA guy, and who taps world class wrestlers daily, at like 150 pounds. Guys like Ray Lewis, Richard Sherman in his prime. I can't remember the last good NFL coach that had "swagger".

If anything, quality coaches are like nerds, nerds you fear you didn't hear correctly in practice. Nerds that are always looking for an advantage to win, because they only talk about one subject, and you wouldn't sense it but take their knowledge over others at the top level as personal pride and the only validation they want for the work they've put in. Top coaches are like chess grandmasters. Grandmasters that'll bench your *** or trade you because they've put in too much time to deal with you if you can't handle their everyday work.

I don't really know about Meyer. But, I imagine him going against top NFL coaches and getting lit up pretty good. Hard to tell with college coaches, players are usually pretty stupid and talent disparities aren't obvious at first.

Holding onto Jason for so long kinda put us in a bind. A lot of the top up and coming NFL coaches are pretty secure. If I was looking, I'm not sure who I'd pick, but I'd be filling out my staff with guys that had positions under Reid, Shanahan, McVay, Belichek. Get a consortium of smart football guys in the pipeline, bring them together, and let them mature.
The love for both Urban Meyer and the young upstart Lincoln Riley by fans here seem to be a little overrated. Both Meyer and Riley have taken the field for all but a few games, with a huge talent advantage which they would never have in the NFL.

College coaching “genius” IMO is more a reflection of successful recruiting than genius coaching. It’s easier to look great when your backups are 5 star recruits and the teams you normally play have zero 5 star players.

Like watching Sean P in NO. The guy oozes cockiness. You know he wants to run it up every week. I think Meyer is the same. He would instantly show these soft underachievers who the boss is. I think if you paired him with a good, NFL experienced DC you would have something. I know the chances are long but I am starting to hope for Meyer.

I just want a coach with swagger here. A guy that knows he is good and acts like it. Not the school girl running around looking for high fives after a 3 and out.
But is he as innovative as Lincoln Riley? There are a lot of cocky coaches. The next coach needs to be able to use what he has in his tool box.

I love Sean Peyton style of coaching. He does not take BS from his players and he when he is pissed he looks like he wants to kill you.

I remember when they played the Rams and they got cheated from getting a TD off a turnover. Sean Peyton laid it in on that ref that blew that whistle and never let up the entire game. Everytime Sean saw him he looked at him as if he wanted to kill him.

Garrett is too warm and fuzzy. Sure he is liked by the players. But sometimes you need a coach like Peyton you will rip you a new one when you mess up.

You don't get to recruit in the NFL....you don't get to leave a "package" in the mailbox.... All that we see on Saturdays doesn't necessarily translate on Sundays.....Ask Nick.

How can you possibly believe Meyer and Riley are in the same class? Riley runs the same offense that Meyer rolled out in Bowling Green and Utah. Meyer has been a top college coach for almost 20 years. He’s won championships at more than 1 stop.

What the hell has Lincoln Riley done???

Landry had credibility as a leader and someone with iron nerves under pressure . Before coaching he flew bombing missions in the war . That goes way beyond swagger .

Landrys credentials cant even be compared to later generations especially these snowflake bunch of spoiled kittykats we call millenniums . Coaching was a joke as far as pressure after what Landry had been through .

Landry didnt need swagger he had the WORLDS RESPECT because before coaching he was part of saving it

A guy that had to quit due to medical issues including stress and heart conditions is wanted by fans to coach the biggest sports team in the world?

Not sure that can be so easily overlooked.

how much of that stress came from the investigation into Ohio state?

Swagger doesn't win games, but it does look good on the sidelines.

Urban Meyer has swagger like Freddie Mercury had swagger. Nothing wrong with that if gay is your thing.
