QB Rankings, Week 1:
1 Aaron Rodgers LAST WEEK: vs. CHI: 18/23, 189 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
2 Tom Brady LAST WEEK: vs. PIT, 25/32, 288 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
3 Ben Roethlisberger LAST WEEK: vs. NE, 26-38, 351, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
4. Drew Brees LAST WEEK: vs. ARI, 30/48, 355 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
5. Tony Romo LAST WEEK: vs. NYG, 36/45, 356 yards, 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
Playing behind the league's best offensive line has done wonders for Romo's game. Having a running game to take pressure off Romo has allowed him to take safer options, leading to more precision and efficiency. Working without top target Dez Bryant for a large chunk of the game, Romo moved the Cowboys offense efficiently thanks to excellent pass protection and the 35-year-old's ever-improving pre-snap acumen. There were multiple times throughout the night where Romo read the defense before the snap, made a key adjustment and exploited the Giants defense. In our preseason rankings, Romo dropped a bit for not being better in the pre-snap phase, but based on early returns, it seems he has worked hard to fill that gap in his game. And we can't talk about Romo's Week 1 performance without highlighting his final drive. That was the best Tony Romo we've ever seen, and if he continues to play with that decisiveness and confidence, Dallas' offense will be just fine without 88 on the outside.

Drew Brees?? 1 TD and 1 INT?

He's staying near the top on reputation alone. Last year he was not nearly as good as Romo but he remained higher ranked because people expected him to be so. He can still play just as well, he is just trying to win games by himself... hmmm, sounds familiar.

It's funny. Romo has been excellent at pre-snap reads for many years. How long have Cowboys fans complained of Tony running the clock down to the 1? Well, he was doing that in order to get the defense to show their hand so he could get the right pre-snap read. But now people think it's somehow a new skill of his just because Chris Collinsworth mentioned it on national TV. A lot of people's "analysis" of players is really just repeating something the announcers said during a game.

I know, IMO the only time he's had trouble with pre-snap reads it has been against the Commanders. For whatever reason they have given him and the entire line fits. Glad they got a new DC.

On a side note, I had no idea that the guy who's the DC for the Skins now is Marinelli's son in law.

I think it's a great strategy at home but maybe not so much on the road; unless Romo is doing it for simple TOP/blitz reads. The audibling @ the last second/mult times can confuse the O if dealing with crowd noise, etc. Really it;s not a bad idea for TOP alone but this speaks more to when Romo is in gunslinger mode and the team isn't running the ball consistently compared to last season. I know Romo has enough exp./talent to utilize this aspect of running the clock down when it is needed/adds advantage. BC the flip side is that the opp. DL can tee off knowing our snap count will always come on 1, etc.

I'm getting aggravated again. Serenity now!!

Lol.

Right. It does wonders for every QBs game. Manning and Elway come to mind. But regardless. of course!!!! Did that have to be said?

And yes, Romo has matured. Become a better QB. You can say that about every QB that actually lasts.........

Romo was forced to carry the team on...................................auhhhhhh. whatever.

Lets get Tony a ring or 4.

It will all go away.

Factor in the fact that the second interception was not Romos fault and he should be higher, behind only Rodgers and Brady

Dont you know stats mean everything! In fact you can throw out the rushing game of every team. Rushing yards and the rushing game and RBs mean nothing. Becuase the stats show the most effeictive team passing the ball wins......:)
