QB Rankings, Week 1:
1 Aaron Rodgers LAST WEEK: vs. CHI: 18/23, 189 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
2 Tom Brady LAST WEEK: vs. PIT, 25/32, 288 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
3 Ben Roethlisberger LAST WEEK: vs. NE, 26-38, 351, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
4. Drew Brees LAST WEEK: vs. ARI, 30/48, 355 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
5. Tony Romo LAST WEEK: vs. NYG, 36/45, 356 yards, 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
Playing behind the league's best offensive line has done wonders for Romo's game. Having a running game to take pressure off Romo has allowed him to take safer options, leading to more precision and efficiency. Working without top target Dez Bryant for a large chunk of the game, Romo moved the Cowboys offense efficiently thanks to excellent pass protection and the 35-year-old's ever-improving pre-snap acumen. There were multiple times throughout the night where Romo read the defense before the snap, made a key adjustment and exploited the Giants defense. In our preseason rankings, Romo dropped a bit for not being better in the pre-snap phase, but based on early returns, it seems he has worked hard to fill that gap in his game. And we can't talk about Romo's Week 1 performance without highlighting his final drive. That was the best Tony Romo we've ever seen, and if he continues to play with that decisiveness and confidence, Dallas' offense will be just fine without 88 on the outside.
