Many in the media dismiss the Pro Bowl’s importance in the grand scheme of NFL life, but the players seem to find it very important. The All-Pro team, which has less slots so it feels more prestigious, isn’t announced until after the regular season concludes. That means the majority of the players in the league, the 20 non-playoff participants, are not in a locker room discussing inclusions and snubs, having an opportunity to congratulate those who make it.

The Pro Bowl has no such issues, named during the season with several weeks remaining, it serves as the crowning achievement to three-quarters of the year and thus is the honor most discussed among the players. Teams with strong first halves of the season are rewarded more than others in the initial naming. In that vein, inclusion in the all-star game isn’t strictly a meritocracy.

After other players dropped out due to injury or involvement in the Super Bowl (played the week after the Pro Bowl), three more Cowboys were added to the roster which ended up being coached by the Dallas staff.

If Dallas has a great season, say 12 wins or more, they could easily see the initial number of five increased, maybe even doubled.

Here’s a look at 10 players we think have great chances to make the event this year, provided they can stay healthy.
