The Dallas Cowboys may have a lot of money, but they certainly aren’t very good poker players. For years, they’ve telegraphed their moves, thinking that being out in the open about their future plans don’t give other teams any sort of meaningful competitive balance. That’s certainly debatable, but it does give us outsiders a chance to glean information from things they say, and things they do. In that vein, there’s a pretty clear indication of where Dallas will end up going in the 2019 NFL draft.

Early in the offseason, both owner Jerry Jones and executive VP son Stephen said finding tight end would be a top priority for the club in the offseason. They’ve done nothing in that regard except for convince Methuselah to jump off the pages of the Bible and rejoin them in the form of Jason Witten. Witten’s a nice feel-good story, but all he did was block them from finding a tight end who can play multiple years in free agency, eat up $4 million of cap space and demand they get themselves one in the draft.

OK then, let’s have at it.

Using Fanspeak’s On The Clock Simulator, we took control of the Cowboys and via several small maneuvers, found ourselves the players we think round out the moves Dallas has made thus far in free agency. Check it out.
