LOOK: David Irving can't curb his enthusiasm to return to Cowboys
http://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/201...ant-curb-his-enthusiasm-to-return-to-cowboys/

In 2016, David Irving was a key cog in getting to the quarterback and creating turnovers. In games such as Green Bay or Tampa Bay (maybe he likes bays?) he dominated, helping the Cowboys to victories. Many were looking for him to build on his performance from last season, but unfortunately Irving was suspended the first four games of the 2017 season over a supplement that dinged him for PED violation. The game against the Rams will be the fourth and final game he’ll have to miss and then its feasting time for the beast.

Irving posted on Instagram, showing clear excitement for his return. The caption reads:

“I’ve only been out a month and it feels like a year .. one more game n I’ll finally be able to play w my bros again. Feeling #blessed and #ready. Can’t wait to take the field again.

The rest of Cowboys Nation is anxiously waiting for your return too. With the way DeMarcus Lawrence and Maliek Collins are playing, Irving’s return could place this defensive line in an echelon it hasn’t been in years.

The rotation about to get much better...every time someone steps out, there will be a legit pass rusher, albeit some with very little experience, coming into the game (i.e.: rotating in Tapper/Taco)...Once JSmith got on the field in the beginning, I said that I was going to be excited to watch BOTH the offense and defense this year and not be as nervous when the D takes the field...now, the DB's are starting to look better, JSmith is there, Tank is unstoppable, the interior DL are doing very well, and add in Irving? yummy

I think it will be more of the same from him. One great game, 3 where he doesn't show up. I'm not going to be suckered in and believe anything different until I see it from him. And when I see it, I'll want to see it again. Show me!

Must suck to be you. It doesn't cost you anything to raise your expectations plus expecting any player to have defensive player of the week performances EVERY week is simply unrealistic.

I agree with him. This forum is given to extremes.
After the Giants game, our defense was the greatest.
After the Broncos game, we are in the running for the top pick in the 2018 draft.
DBM is taking a cautious approach, waiting to see what occurs down the road before getting overly excited.
And after more than 20 years from our last Super Bowl and early exits year after year, I don't blame him.

Hey free country, i personally just don't believe in lowered expectations is the way to live life.

Like Jimmy liked to say, treat people not like they are but who you'd like them to be.

Jimmy would have been a Brahmin in the era of Transcendentalism. I believe in people and the way to get the most out of them is to positively communicate their very best self.

Never had an employee achieve great things by cautiously endorsing their job quality.

I agree when you have a direct relationship with someone.

But we're talking about distant observation here.

If I were Irving's coach, I would approach him with expectation of him getting better.

But as a fan of the Cowboys not wanting to get too extreme either way, I can take a different approach.

See the difference? :)

Yeah if we the Irving that was DPOW against Green Bay and not the ghost (the one that was invisible some games), our DL will be ferocious for the first time since the 90s.

GB was the opponent in one of his breakouts, so I'll take that as a first game back!
