The Dallas Cowboys are heading into Week 10 with a 5-3 record and what appears to be the meat of their schedule. The team will play four games in 18 days, three of the four against teams with winning records. It all begins Sunday night when the club hosts the 6-3 Minnesota Vikings.

Having a clean bill of health would be huge for the Cowboys as they try to extend their NFC East lead. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones joined 105.3 The Fan for his weekly spot and discussed the statuses of both wide receiver Amari Cooper and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch.

Cooper is expected to practice in a limited fashion Friday after not participating Thursday due to a knee injury sustained in Monday night’s win over the New York Giants. Jones was asked about the health of Cooper’s knee and his statement should give Cowboys’ fans hope for his status heading into Sunday night.

“His assessment would give him a total clean bill of health if we were drafting him or signing him tonight,” Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan.

Cooper, who is in a contract year, has dealt with injuries on his ankle, heel, foot and knee just over the past few weeks. And during that time frame he has still alternated 100-yards receiving in his last four games.

Possibly even bigger news came when Jones discussed Vander Esch and his injury situation. He was asked if he expects his second-year linebacker to play against the Vikings on Sunday night and his answer sounds like he should be able to go.

“Oh yeah. I do. He’s practicing, and he’s feeling better. No one has been champing at the bit more,” Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan.

Vander Esch was unable to play this past Monday after sustaining a neck stinger prior to the bye week in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Veteran linebacker Sean Lee stepped up in his place and totaled a team-high 12 tackles.
