The Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line is the central figure in any plans for the team to achieve success in 2019. With the return of Travis Frederick to the fold, it is expected to once again be the ultimate strength, but the unit has not been that for a while this offseason, and nothing appears to be changing on Tuesday. Dallas had good news on the defensive line front, with the return of DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford, but the same cannot be said for the OL.

During his press conference, the first since the club returned from their exhibition in Hawaii, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett ruled out both left tackle Tyron Smith and right guard Zack Martin from Tuesday’s practice. In addition, rookie guard Connor McGovern will continue to miss practice and hasn’t participated at all in training camp.

No practice for Tyron Smith today. Garrett says it doesn't seem like a long-term problem, but "it's something he's been dealing with lately." #cowboyswire

Martin has now missed a couple weeks with a bulging disc in his back and without McGovern getting any work, is threatening to leave Dallas perilously thin at the position.

Also missing Tuesday’s practice will be WR Amari Cooper (heel), and tight ends Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz. Garrett also revealed third-year WR Noah Brown isn’t ready to come off of PUP. The head coach indicated he would likely not practice all week, making it seem he’s not on the radar to return anytime soon.

With Ezekiel Elliott holding out, this is a large portion of the Dallas offense that will not participate in the team’s first Dallas practice since the end of last season.

On the opposite side of the ball, in addition to Lawrence and Crawford, the defense is getting back Sean Lee in some capacity as well. Lee has missed a couple of week’s with an MCL sprain.

There is some bad news for the defense though, as Byron Jones will not be taken off of PUP after his offseason hip surgery.
