Not true. We did not telegraph the Pick last year.

Now on a normal basis it could be true but that is only after the pick is made that we can go back and find some quote Jerry says that leads us to believe that the player they picked was the one they wanted all along.

Only thing is, Jerry says so much to so many that he could be talking about a number of players and cover his bases.

True and there are some who feel Vacarro will be taken before Dallas so all of this could be a moot point. I do think Vacarro along with a few others are on the Cowboys radar so yes it is possiable he could end up being the pick but there are 17 teams in front of us that will play a role in our 1st selection.

clairborne was never in the picture, they didnt think we could get him.Felix, jenkins, tyron, lee and dez were all heavily scouted and invited by us.I beleive vacarro is a lock @18 if he is there but i would be dissapointed if we took
him over Warmac and cooper.

I think I remember them saying Claiborne was the second guy on their board after Luck. So yeah circumstances obfuscated that one.

Disgusting. Same feeling I got when all we heard about was Felix Jones predraft. Stop it Jerry. He's not worth it.
He's down my list some too.
But it would be nothing at all like how I felt about us burning that 1st rounder on Felix.

I remember thinking during the season, if we only had one more player in the secondary.

I dont believe Jerry will draft a guard in the first rd but i will be thrilled to be proved wrong.

I think they have both of those OGs rated above Vacarro and if one is there I think they take one of them.

I think the same scenario might play out if both OGs are gone but someone like Sheldon Richardson and Vacarro are sitting there however I don't know because there have been some questions about Richardson attitude.

I very well may be wrong on this...I hope I am not as I have railed this offseason about the need for this team to draft Oline in the first (if one of the two are there). But I think that JG will finally get through to jerry the importance of the oline.

I think there is a reason that they have not turned in Livings Contract....YET.

Now that could all be moot if both OGs are gone.

I don't think he is a lock but I do believe he is on the Cowboys short list.

Anyone have any thoughts on how Vaccaro compares to Barron? I really liked Barron but do not watch many UT games so know little about Vaccaro other than what I've read.

I just remember feeling how much better c Johnson was. Same way I feel about a handful of safeties being better than Vaccarro. I don't know if it's a UT thing or what but he looks weak to me. Typical cowboy I guess. Smh

Barron was a SS. He and Vaccarro have little in common.

What I have read are some pretty wide ranging opinions, that in itself is not good. Also a few people who are Texas alumni are actually downtalking him, doesn't make me feel secure.

I would agree based on what I saw from both players in big games. Barron stood out at times while Vaccaro seemed to disappear.

Vaccaro may be a 1st round safety but I don't think he will have the same impact as Barron.

Gil Brandt view

Pick No.

NO
Kenny Vaccaro

Pound for pound, Vaccaro is one of the toughest guys in the draft. The Texas product's performance in pre-draft workouts (his 40 time was on the slower side at the combine, while a hip flexor issue limited him at his pro day) is relatively unimportant when projecting his pro potential, since his strengths are short-area quickness and tremendous competitiveness. He reminds me of young Bucs safety Mark Barron, who didn't run all that well before last year's draft, but went on to have an excellent rookie season.

Out of all the options we've been discussing, Vaccaro is the one I don't want.

I don't see anything special. I see an athlete. I see a tough guy.

But I don't see a playmaker.

Liar. :p:

Watching Danny McCray play was a painful; like watching a three-legged Chihuahua fight a Pit Bull.

You will really love seeing Matt Johnson as a starting Safety...well that is he is ever healthy enough to start...or back up...or practice.

Then again the Bama defense as a whole was much better than Texas that kind of helps out when you single out the individual.

I also think the reason most have him going in the 1st rd is because many see the talent he has. There is a good chance he will be gone before 18.

How he ends up playing at the next level is the same for all prospect it is an unknown until they put on the pads.

I'm not even sure why there is all this chatter about the team drafting a safety when are starters are already on the roster.

Like I said, Dooms, he is not one of my top three options but I would not be disappointed if he was the pick.

Interestingly enough, Brandt has Mingo falling to Dallas! That would be a steal!

If vacarro is tough so is Kurt Coleman. Who has he ever layed out? Such a tough safety should have a big hit to reference. Smh

I can't say at this stage I have a top pick, there are several I like Vacarro is just one of them. I personally think this draft sets up good for the needs the Cowboys must address.
