Vacation time in Daytona Beach

Leaving work early today and heading to Daytona Beach with Girl friend and her 2 kids (17 and 4) as well as her nephew (11). Having nightmares of the road trip ahead of us. lol

Plan on taking the kids to Disney next Monday and Wednesday and the rest of the time hanging out on the beach in Daytona.

Houston to Biloxi Ms tonight and then on to Daytona on Saturday

I picked a bad time to give up drinking. lol

Have a safe trip, and a great time!

I am heading out tomorrow morning with my bride of 38 years for a week at Ocean City MD.

Sometimes we go with family, but this week it will be just her and me. Can't wait.

I have been going to OC, MD since I was 3.
My wife and I went there on our honeymoon.
We took both of our boys there before they were one year old, and many times since.
We spent the week last year there with our grandson, for the first time.
It is a very special place for us.
We have been to many other beaches as well, and love them all, but Ocean City is home.

Three years ago, we were eating at one of our favorite places, that sits on the bay, always a beautiful sunset. They have a guy that sings and entertains with his guitar. I asked him to announce that there was a guy in the audience that wanted to thank his wife for 35 glorious years and wanted to ask her for 35 more.

When he said that over the microphone, my wife looked at me, .. with that look.

I stepped out and knelt down and gave her a diamond ring. It was a huge surprise for her.

The place went wild. The singer asked her for her answer, and she said yes.

Several people came by and congratulated us. She was a little embarassed by it all, but she said it was great.

Gonna be a great week!

Picked up the family Truckster last night and will be leaving soon to pick up the gang and head out to Wally World I mean Disney world. lol

My only hope if Cristy Brinkley is staying at the hotel in Bolixi tonight. lol

I bet you did. I made a similar trip with my son on a whim when he was younger. Called work and took a week off went home and packed some bags and hit the road from Oklahoma. Not sure what possessed me to do it but I'm glad I did, we both had a blast. We went to Disney, Universal, Kennedy Space Center and took a tour of Daytona Speedway.
I was kinda the anti Clark Griswold though, no planning or itinerary just went with it and if it looked cool we stopped. Probably the best vacation I've had and one my son will always remember.

Well we stayed in Daytona Beach nice condo right on the beach with a great view overlooking the ocean. We made the trips to Disney on 2 of the days and spent the rest of the vacation playing on the beach and of course hitting the stores along Daytona Beach.

That sounds awesome. The drawback to the no planning thing was there were hardly any rooms available without reservations. I didn't even think about it being spring break and every night we spent at least a couple hours driving around looking for a place that had vacancies. Beach front was out the question and by the end of the night I was just happy to find a place that didn't have bullet holes in the doors.

I plan some and some just let happen but when it comes to getting a room, I always want to find good accomdations. Most of the time I rent a condo for a week to really be able to relax and enjoy myself. I have yet to be disappointed.
