My Mock, 2.0

By Rafael Vela

1. Brandon Meriweather, FS, Miami
Can play nickel back as well. Versatility gives him the edge over Aaron Ross, IMO. I suspect that neither Reggie Nelson nor Darrell Revis will pass through the Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Tennessee guantlet at picks 17, 18 and 19.

2. Arron Sears, OG, Tennessee
I think one of the guards will fall to Dallas and I have Sears #3 among the Blalock, Grubbs, Sears trio.

3. Jacoby Jones, WR, Lane College, Tennessee
A big young WR to start grooming. Is compared to Bernard Berrian of Chicago. Can also return kicks.

4. Allan Barbre, OT, Southern Missouri

5. Paul Soliai, NT, Utah

6. La’Ron McClain, FB, Alabama

6. Jacob Ford, OLB, Central Arkansas

7. Courtney Brown, CB, Cal-Poly

7. Kyle Young, C, Fresno State

7. Michael Allen, TE, Whitworth

Is the only player I believe we would take........at the positions picked.

Word is they also like Allan Barbre and I do think they are interested in Merriweather even if he does have some character concerns.

They looked past TO as far as character concerns go just last year. They looked past Antonio Bryant a few years back as well.

Not a bad mock talentwise. Love Jacoby Jones game! I have been on his bandwagon since the East-West Shrine and Senior Bowl games. He is a player.

I like it thru Brown. I don't know the last two. I wonder if Jacoby is rated too high coming from tiny Lane.

Somewhere along the line, I see us picking up a QB and/or a RB, especially a power-type back.

I luv it.

I totally believe that Brandon Meriweather can be DROY in 2007.

He was the best DB going into the 2006 collegiate season and if not for the FIU incident and Off-field issue he'd be atleast a top 15 pick.

I am starting believe he won't make it to the 22nd pick. I've got good info. that most teams aren't that concerned about his "character" issues.

most mocks have soliai in the 3rd.. or 4th never later..and i think that we'd draft a QB before a FB.. but i could live with this draft if we took the QB before the FB.. some 1 like Jordan Palmer

He's had great workouts and his play against big school competition in the East-West game showed a lot. He practiced well and has a lot of upside according to scouts. He has good size as well at 6'2/6'3 210lbs. I would like the pick in the 3rd since T.O. and Terry Glenn will be the starters for at least one more season and Crayton has the #3 WR spot locked down, it would give Jones a chance to play ST and develop.

Jerry has had some luck with smaller school players before in Larry Allen and Leon Lett. Hopefully if he drafts Jones he would be similar to them.

But he's got real character and work ethic concerns, so I could see him falling a long way.

Well I don't think it's a bad pick. I haven't really looked hard at him. I just wondered why he was picked to go 3-4 being from a tiny school even with track speed and his size. They're finding everything out there these days.

I'll take Merriweather if he's there. I too think he's better and much more versatile than Nelson. He had the one on field incident and a "legal" off the field incident (which wouldn't have happened if someone didn't shot his friend). The fact he has some experience at corner reminds me of Darren Woodson (I know DW was a LB in college) and his days with the Boys.

And he is a true playmaker, which this defense desperately needs.

even though I don't think Dallas will look at Merriweather, I wouldn't mind him in the 1st

I actually really like that draft

Nobody's worried about Merriweather's character concerns? We won't touch him in the first round.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm not certain the average fan gets enough of the interview information and the like to make those judgments in detail. However, if you're dead set against it just based on those incidents I understand. You may be right.
