A lot of our fanbase is clueless when it comes to recognizing offensive line talent. Frederick was a brilliant pick. One should know that by now. And Arkin will make this team, and could even start. I wonder what the hell people are even looking at sometimes.

Word. Truespeak.

Reading Vela, the key metric for a center is how fast he can rotate his hips twelve inches.

I remember when he declared I picked him in the late 1st round to the Packers in one of our user mocks and a member here scoffed at what a reach he was. It's been comical to see the reverse course there now that he's a Cowboy.

Sorry. If you drop an OL based on 40 time you really have no idea how to evaluate football players.

I admitted it was a reach when we drafted him, but only a slight reach IMO and one that probably had to happen considering the run on OL. If you wanted him, you had to take him a little earlier than you probably wanted to. I'm thrilled to have him as a Cowboy. A real legitimate NFL C. It's been a while.

I agree with this. If you can't see he's already the best OL we have, you should stop opining.

Well I do have to add, seems like you are assuming just cause a player loses weight he will be faster....its just not that linear. If I lose 10-15 pounds, I'm not automatically faster, just doesn't work that way although I wish it did.

I'm not overly concerned with Fred's forty time, especially at his position. If you are running plays that require an OL to run 40 yards, then you need a new offensive coordinator.

There is an ideal weight for each person. If you're already at that weight, then losing more will not be beneficial.

People generically refer to the forty, but it was actually his 10-yard time that worried people.

Unless you're a year-around well conditioned athlete in peak condition, then comparing anything that you do physically to an NFL athlete is comparing apples to oranges.

Well, that was never, ever going to happen. I don't think Dallas would've taken Mathieu in the 6th had he been there.

Personally, I would have used a later round pick on the guy, but not a second.

It's not his play that's the problem. The guy is a headcase. Fine, he's looked really good in a few plays in preseason. Wait for it...

Escobar wasn't drafted for his blocking skills, though the hope is that he can develop them going forward. At least he doesn't show signs of being a complete meathead like his predecessor.

Agree on the Moore value pick, 12 sacks in the SEC means something. Thought I read Thomas already done for the year with injury.

Thomas is gone for the year, this was just my thinking during and immediately after the draft.

I wanted two Olineman, and after what transpired with the oline run I had no issue with Frederick. I liked him better than I thought the Cowboys liked him, because everyone was spouting the Zone Blocking stuff I didn't think we'd be interested in him. The Escobar pick I never liked and I hope I'm wrong. He didn't block in college and he wasn't explosive by TE standards.

1.Fred
2.Warford instead of Escobar (I know they didn't like him)
3.Demontre Moore instead of Williams, The Williams pick is growing on me, I thought Moore was just a great value pick
3.Phillip Thomas (I thought he was more NFL ready)

Loved the other picks

I was totally on board with you here! These were the same guys I was hoping for at the time. The Williams pick was ok to me, but I did want Phillip Thomas. He's gonna be good once he returns.

After watching Detroit playing New England we should be happy we passed on Larry Warford, he may get better but he was a turnstile on that Oline. He would be number 7 for talent in our Oline pool maybe higher. In other words no help at all this year. We hit the lottery with the Beard no doubt and then to get T Williams hard to bash Jones family on this one.
