Switzer's 40 time is in the 4.5 neighborhood, whereas Lucky's was in the 4.4 neighborhood coming out of school.

Switzer looks more to me like someone who is much more effective north-south where his peripheral vision can guide him through the maze of tacklers... I'm going to have to see him in preseason before I consider him a jet sweep threat of any kind.
switzer is thicker built in the lower body and those type of guys make good jet sweep dudes.
lucky put on muscle once here but was almost frail when he first signed.
agility is as important as speed as you need to make someone miss unless you are just running for 4 or 5 yards to the other sideline.
all that said you cares if they retire that play. i hate us running plays that can be blown up in the backfield.

switzer is definitely a better slot, short quick route guy than lucky.

They dont think Chaz can stay healthy and Bell is a JAG.

It's a shame Chaz cant stay healthy. He's really a talented OT. Quite a luxury to bring him off the bench to "pinch hit" for a game or 2.

So obviously Collins is an upgrade at RT. But how much are we losing at LG with Cooper in there? Hopefully not much but we'll see.

For this to work, he'll need to show something he hasn't show on his last 3 teams.

In Cleveland he was essentially their 5th guard until other players got hurt last year. Ie, they viewed him as the player of last resort.

This article excerpt last year from when they cut him doesn't make him out to be a guy that was once a Top 10 pick.

Cooper was picked up off waivers in October after he was released by the New England Patriots. Before that he was a part of the trade that sent Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals had picked Cooper seventh overall in the 2013 draft, but Cooper has not lived up to his high draft potential.

In Cleveland, Cooper was a low-cost, high-reward pick up that simply did not pan out. He spent most of the season as a backup to guards John Greco and Joel Bitonio. When those players were injured, the Browns turned to Spencer Drangoand Bailey before looking toward Cooper. Being fifth on the depth chart does not bode well for one’s future.

Nonetheless, when Bailey was suspended for a DUI, Cooper got his chance to play. His time on the field was not spectacular in any way. He was not terrible. He was got great. He was a run-of-the-mill player.
The hope here is that the Cowboys system is the perfect system for Cooper and that he can somehow avoid the injuries that have destroyed his career to date.

We had one of the best OLs in football with a run of a the mill player playing RT for us.

Frankly, all we need from Cooper is to not be terrible playing between Fred and Smith.

I agree. The league is almost as starved for OL play as QB play. For Cooper to bounce around like he has, and for Bellichick to dump him during the season says a lot IMO.

Take a look at all of the linemen that Belichick has "dumped" recently. It's eye opening. They're essentially the anti-Cowboys when it comes to the offensive line. They swap em out like underwear.

He got to play with Joe Thomas but outside of that who else did they have? Leary looked a lot better because of who he played between, now we'll see if he'll be as good in Denver. Not saying Cooper will be great but we need to give him a chance, it sounds like you just want this to fail.

Stephen said Whitehead is fast as a straight-line runner, but he doesn't have the ability to cut like Switzer.

I can agree with that much. Better cutting ability would have made him a better cut-back threat on the sweep.

Switzer, otoh, seemingly is no improvement... also have to be fast enough to get to the edge, which is more often than not the primary desired/intended running lane to begin with.

I watched Switzer just destroy Florida State. Caught a million balls for a jillion yards. They couldn't stop him.

Switzer created Mitch Trubisky.

the weakest link. If I correctly recall we have cap space this year
of that list likely not a cut. you may see an injury as big dl usually experience that but you could also trade one of those dudes for a late draft pick around cut downs likely.
big, cheap bodies are very in demand.

Of course he does. He's our resident Packers fan.

Don't get me wrong... not down on Switzer overall... just skeptical about that one particular asset that I don't think he actually brings, ie, based on what I've seen.

And I'm in the pro-jet-sweep group, out of the persuasion that a consistent jet-sweep threat keeps some clogging the middle from happening, just enhancing Zeke's game all the more

Switzer>>>Lucky. He's much better overall than Lucky, IMO.

If anything, Ivie will have to be a 3 tech here. He's not stout enough to be a 1 tech. Inconsistent play, gets thrown around way too much, on his back a lot, shows a bit of burst and can shoot gaps at times, etc.

I'd be stunned if he makes the 10-11 man DL rotation barring injuries.

Hmmm...I guess Stephen didn't hear what Rappaport had to say, otherwise he wouldn't be excited about Jaylon Smith.

Didn't he know that he and the other members of the Cowboys brass don't see him as a difference maker anymore?
