Great post, but this is a conference call with season ticket holders, right? I expect that it's full on sunshine pumping. What are the odds that he comes out and says that they have no Right Tackle or that Jaylon Smith is being fitted for an Oscar Pistorius blade just so that he can make it into the stadium? It's not as if this call is being regulated by the SEC like a CEO giving a quarterly earnings report.

Leary was going to be more expensive and there is still that knee concern. So the team did the right thing in that instance.

Cooper is someone that the Boys are gambling will return to form; if not then Collins goes back to guard and we deal with Green's injury concerns. It does seem they have no confidence in any of the other tackle prospects.

Because this is Stephen not jerry. He does not have a history of basically lying as your post seems to claim.

Great stuff! Thx for taking notes and sharing!

- I'm not surprised in the least about Dallas being ready to call Romo if Dak goes down. I was literally talking about that exact situation with a friend yesterday and I thought they would at least try it.

It is a brilliant plan and don't think it wasn't discussed between the Jones' and Romo and, quite possibly CBS.

Just waiting for the Giants to propose the "Romo Rule", whereby a player cannot return to the same team mid-season after being released the off season before. Of course, even if the rule is invoked later, it will be retroactive and penalize us draft picks and salary cap if we ever did sign Romo mid-season due to a Dak injury. But, the Superbowl chanpionship would be worth it! :D

Switzer's 40 time is in the 4.5 neighborhood, whereas Lucky's was in the 4.4 neighborhood coming out of school.

Switzer looks more to me like someone who is much more effective north-south where his peripheral vision can guide him through the maze of tacklers... I'm going to have to see him in preseason before I consider him a jet sweep threat of any kind.
I agree the jet sweep would not showcase his talent IMO. Surely they were just joking.

"I'll be real clear here, our first preference ... is to have him play guard," Jones said. "But we also know that if there's a guy on our team who might have that flexibility to move out to tackle, then he certainly has that skill set."

Stephen quote just 2 weeks ago which goes along with what JJ and JG have said. I liked to hear exactly what he said that was so different in this conference call.

Has there been any updates on Green's health status? I wonder if there is any concern about his availability.

That's what I'm beginning to wonder as well. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I haven't heard a thing about him coming back from back surgery.

Just as I've suspected all along, calling Romo to come save the team is a part of the plan should the need arise. It's good to hear Stephen confirm it.

Just confirms that the FO reads this board from time to time. Lots of posters have advocated for the Collins move to tackle for over a year.
Now Jerry, if you're reading this...it's time to retire and move in with GW Bush in Crawford. Fixer Upper can build you a new home and you can become an HGTV star.

mannn naaaa mann!!!!! Jerry running things in the league now bruh!! let Jerry do his thing and get his shine on .... we know who doing the work thats why he made "Jr" aka "Stephen Jones" to run thangs but Jerry still the boss tho... Jerry aint finna miss this shine with is squad building the way it is..... he makes this thang what it is!!! my guy Jerry Jones!

we doing good now let Jerry enjoy this back end of life he aint ready to go lol!!!

You would have to think, judging by Cooper's history, that playing guard for us is a stretch. Hard to be optimistic here.

Bicycle. I have no clue how I fell.
Ah. I know a guy that jacked up his arm on a bicycle a couple of years ago. Compound fracture that requires screws/pins and metal rods. He was not going fast and says he does not really know what happened.

Every year, Stephen Jones and Brad Sham do a one-hour conference call for season-ticket holders. Always interesting, but this year was especially so. Stephen is more forthcoming these days because of his prominence, I believe.

Among the very interesting points he made:

- Jonathan Cooper will start at left guard, and Lael Collins will be the right tackle. He didn't say that flat out, but he definitely implied it. He said they're looking at Collins hard at tackle, and that they had Cooper as a top 10 pick when he came out in the draft, and they think he fits this style.

- They will call Tony Romo if something happens to Dak. He said it frankly. He wasn't sure if Romo would be interested, but he had no qualms about calling McManus at CBS and letting him know of their interest. He thought McManus would eat up that kind of attention, too. I was surprised that Stephen was so open about this.

- Jaylon Smith's nerve is definitely regenerating. He said there is a tremendous buzz around the practice facilities because it looks like he's going to fully heal in time, maybe this season, and shed the brace altogether.

- Lucky Whitehead might as well pack his bags. Stephen said Ryan Switzer gives them a much shiftier returner, a more polished receiver, and a guy that can run the jet sweeps like Whitehead. He added that they want to package Switzer with Beasley in formations, and that Beasley's size has concerned them in terms of injury potential, so another receiver like him was crucial because he's so important to the offense and Dak. He referenced Edelman and Amendola as an example of how to use them both.

- Rico Gathers is improving. I hope I end up being dreadfully wrong about Gathers, and Stephen said he'd be very surprised if he didn't make the 53. He said he's totally committed to football, which is something they haven't always seen from players switching sports like this. He said Eberflus told him that Gathers was uncoverable in the red zone. Byron Jones can't cover his big frame.

- Ivie was entirely Rod Marinelli's pick. Stephen said that pick made Marinelli more giddy than any of the defensive picks because he loves powerful guys like Ivie that never take off a play.

- They chose Charlton over Watt primarily based on scheme, but they also think Charlton will be more impactful sooner than Watt. He said both have high ceilings, so it was a tough choice.

- He said the draft would probably have to be held at the stadium if the crowd was anything like Philly. The Star couldn't hold that many, he said.

This post could've been tha size of an entire ESPN magazine and I would've kept reading. Nugget after nugget after nugget. Thank you!!!
