Very serious question about Tony Romo heading into the 2009 season

Would you say this is a make or break year for Tony meaning that he has to play a huge role in helping the Cowboys win their first playoff game since 1997? In all honesty, how long does this franchise hold on to a QB who plays a role in the cowboys either missing the playoffs or getting put out in the first game? I will admit I was very high on Romo in 2006 and 2007 but that Eagles game from the last game of the season has me unsure about him. I think we all should be worried a little when a QB compares one of his interceptions to being similar to a punt. So I just see this year as the year that he succeeds or will be on extremely thin ice in 2010. How many more chances shoukd he get for the money he makes? Is there anyone on this board who would not want to see another QB in 2010 if the Cowboys lose their 1st playoff game or miss the playoffs?

Romo will be fine for 2 or more years. Live with it...

It depends on the situation. One man does not make the whole team. It's unfair to give him ultimatums.

I don't see 2 years if the Cowboys are still one and done or not in the playoffs at all. If he was then us fans would have to ask-"what exactly is he being paid to do?

Even though I hate the ground Mcnabb walks on he defintely didn't need 4 seasons or more to led the Eagles to a playoff win, If he did the Philly media and fans would have ran him out of town

No it is not a make or break season. He just got signed to a long term deal and he is a pretty good QB as well.

Only in America is the microwave not fast enough.

You know that the QB is 75% of the reason on whether the offense scores or not. So please don't give me it's unfair to evaluate him very closely as a franchise QB because he is paid to perform not stand on the sideline smiling and being goofy. This will defintely be the year to see what Romo is really made of. He went backwards in his Quarterback progression with that loss to the Eagles at the Linc in week 17.

Go look up how long it took Peyton Manning to win a playoff game, and how many games he lost. Then come back here.

But his time has to be running out to prove he is a franchise QB wouldn't you agree? Right now he has two major stains on his resume which is winless as a QB in the playoffs and the Chief of Collaspe in December.

Who would you suggest as a replacement? The Cowboys were struggling with December/playoffs long before Romo took over. That Eagles game was packed with TEAM mistakes, not just Romo. These things happen. I don't see any reason whatsoever why it would carry over into the 2009 season. I wouldn't be surprised if Romo has a season comparable to 2007. He did a great job of spreading the ball around then. Remember the winning drive in that crazy Detroit game? He completed passes to just about everybody out there. Romo is capable of this with or without TO. He is going to surprise the doubters and shut up the naysayers this season. The Cowboys have been contenders ever since Romo took the helm. You could not say that before he became the starter. Careful what you wish for...

In payton's defense he was always heading in the right direction. Even though he was winless in the playoffs he was not faling apart in December. And in all honesty I don't want to compare Romo to Peyton Manning or Brady or Mcnabb.

Give me someone else like Rivers or Brees

You got it a little bit wrong. The Cowboys have two major stains on their resume. The Cowboys have collapsed in December. If Romo steps it up in December but the rest of the Cowboys played like they have the result will be the same.

All the Cowboys need to step up and play as a complete team...good defense, good offense, good special teams and good coaching. If this happens the Cowboys will be successful if not they won't.

I get it you are frustrated as a fan, but if you think this year is an ultimatum year for Romo then you are only looking at things through your silver and blue glasses and not looking at things objectively, because barring a career ending injury Romo will be the QB for the Cowboys for quite some time.

Romo has had better teams than Peyton did for most of his early years with the Colts. Peyton didn't even have a defense his first few years in the league. I love how you guys keep bringing him up to defend Romo. Pretty funny stuff though. Manning won a playoff game in his 6th year. I wouldn't even count his rookie year because he took over a crappy team. So 3 years he lost in the playoffs and 1 year he didn't make it. But, as I said Romo has had way more support on his team than Peyton had on both sides of the ball.

Where was Romo's defensive support against Baltimore last season?

Romo has only played 2 1/2 seasons . You expect more out of him than the best QB in the league who you admit took six years just to win his first playoff game? Patience is a virtue. Romo has led the Cowboys to the playoffs two out of three chances. If he was healthy last year, it would be three out of three. The playoff games Dallas lost WERE NOT ROMO'S FAULT. Why is that so hard for some people to grasp?

Question asked: how long does this franchise hold on to a QB who plays a role in the cowboys either missing the playoffs or getting put out in the first game?

Answer: ... in order to answer this question, research must be done... you are first to provide me the names of all QB's currently in the HOF or considered great "under general consensus" that have lost a playoff game.... Secondly you are to provide me with a detailed description of how that game was lost by said QB and what roll if any his teammates had in said loss. Upon completion of the above task a picture will form that we can use to get a better understanding of the question being asked and the person who asked it....For references try the mirrored covered book "Am I a bandwagon fan or just an instant gratification junkie" written by Imma Jerk & I.K.
