Victor Butler's sack totals are deceiving. His sack-to-snap ratio is pretty solid. (i.e. he didn't play enough behind Ware/Spencer). #saints

I'm surprised it was the Saints. I didn't get the impression that Rob Ryan liked him that much. Brady Poppinga was getting snaps ahead of Butler in at least 1 game last season when Ware was dealing with injuries.

i wouldn't be surprised if he had 8 to 10 sacks.i always thought he was the best pure rusher on the team.

I am too. But a big part of me doubts that it will go well. I mean... Ryan preferred to play a very, very banged up Ware instead of Butler toward the end of the season.

Great point, I did think that VB deserved more time but you make an excellent point.

I don't think the Saints would've made push for Butler if Rob Ryan wasn't a fan of his. I think Sean Payton is letting Ryan get a lot of the say on how to do 3-4 personnel

I think Butler is a decent rotation guy but not someone who I ever felt would take the starting role. As far as helping to teach Rob defense not sure many on the team understood it well enough for Butler to help teach it.

Butler was also hurt at the end of the season. Pulled groin I believe. So it was a hurt Ware over a hurt Butler.

Funny that most fans root against ex-cowboys when they sign somewhere else..

I hope he does very well, he is now penciled in as a starter. Career progression, etc.

I don't think anyone here is rooting against him. I can see how it may seem that way since a few, including me, don't believe he won't do all that well. Nonetheless, I don't any opinions I've read have been malicious.
